The first time i fought the regenerating monstor in dead space. i laughed my ass off at the cutscene knowing full well i had a fully loaded rifle with a couple of upgrades already aimed at the fucker, blew off its arms and legs and sat there giggling... until it grew them back and fucking chased me around the hallways.... i fucking shit myself.

Never heard of Pyramid Head. I'd have to say Dark Link from OoT... that always freaked me out.
He's from Silent Hill 2.

And yes, PH was creepy-weird. When he was introduced I just stared at my screen for a second, unable to comprehend just what the hell he was doing. And then I realized...

The Spiders in Dark Messiah of Might and Magick. They sneak up on you in the Spider Temple. And the real kicker . . . they hit you once, you get poisoned, and in the entire section of spider tunnels, there's all of 3 antidotes. But something like 40 spiders. In dark tunnels . . . where you can't see them . . . crawling at you >.>
This definantly this.

I'm going to have to say Pyramid Head. Although a close second was those darned Twitchers in Dead Space. Its the combination of that noise and the fact they never stop twitching and moving around...just creepy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u_r18aV1Sk <-- Twitcher in action.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PqZwTh3tlc&feature=related <-- shows how fast they move a bit clearer.

Pyramid Head. There are just so many reasons he is disturbing.
Seconded. As far as I can remember it's the first time I saw rape in a video game. And it was monster on monster.
You know there was rape in a game long before that

You know it to be true...

I think the Abstract Daddies are as disturbing as Pyramid Head - if not more disturbing - if you know what they represent

Two figures on a bed? The things that are manifestations of Angela's past?
Yeah... ick...

If you see the Splicers up close in Bioshock, they're pretty freaking scary. I got the guidebook and it has artwork of the splicers and you can see that their faces are pretty much falling off... I don't look at those pages much...

Poison headcrabs always scare the living shit out of me (and lead to massive overkill and ammo wastage) - especially when they jump at you from behind ("...administering morphine...warning, user death imminent..."), and fast zombies can make me go "AAAAAAAAH GODDAMMIT" too sometimes, if they appear out of nowhere (or sometimes if you can hear them coming, e.g. drainpipes in Ravenholm) and run at you, screaming like maniacs, without their skin.

Manhacks also creep me the fuck out from time to time, the idea of some little spinny bladey thing whirring towards you to slice your soft flesh into ribbons..... eeurgh.
I agree entirely with the poison headcrabs. If I see just one that's several grenades being used. Also the noise the fast zombies make just freaks me right out.

For me it was the regenerators from RE4. The noise they make is otherworldy.
those are the reason I never finished that game. I once killed one, turned around, and there was another 5 feet from me. My pants almost filled. Thing is, I even had a trainer running in the background so I was invincible, had my attache case filled with the best weapons in the game (infinite launcher, chicago typewriter, others I can't remember the name of) and I still didn't have the courage to get through there.

name says it all =D

but apart from the obvious I'd have to say Piggsy, I shat several bricks because of him when I first played Manhunt
Well that was exactly what I was going to say so, this.

For once I'll have to agree with the masses.
Pyramid Head all the way (particularly after a drunken psycology student has ranted to you about what Freud would think of the SH games)
i would love to hear that rant...do you remember it?
Bits of it. It was a few years ago and he wasn't at his most coherant.

The bit that stuck in my mind the most was all the various bits of phalic symbolism connected to PH and how it related to James' sexual and emotional frustration.
He pointed out that there were a few spots in 3 where the combination of blood/flesh on the walls, weird lighting and/or moving/undulating bits of wall gave the impression of being inside a big malformed womb, linking into the unwanted pregancy metaphors of the game. Haven't played enough 3 to know which bits he was talking about.
He didn't have much to say about 1, and 4 had only just came out at the time.
A lot of it was the standard symbolism stuff, but with why Freud would agree, disagree, approve or explode.

black headcrabs everytime I heard that clicking noise I went a little insane

and I know it's not an enemy but in sonic games, when you start to drown that music makes me freaking panic

Haha, i'm exactly the same with the sonic drowning noise. As soon as you hear it you're like 'Oh god..Oh god' and you can feel your heart start to beat faster.. Good times :')

The world of Mario is SO weird.

Take goombas for example. They are walking penises. Look at them the next time you play.

I wonder what they were smoking when they made that game.

EDIT: Oh. It's about disgusting and twisted things. I couldn't tell from the OP.

Definitely the Trogs from Fallout 3.

I remember the redeads from Ocarina of Time used to really freak me out but that was when I was a lot younger. I haven't played much in the way of horror games recently but I have had Dead Space recommended by several people. So, from what I hear, I'll probably end up all scared and disturbed by the time I'm done.

lol..well..honestly I haven't played Silent Hill because i'm scared it'll make me unable to sleep for months...I just saw the rape scene because my ex was playing it when i walked into his dorm one day and he wouldn't turn it off when i asked him too (such a sweetie lol)...but from what I've read about the game that all sounds interesting...and i'd LOVE to see Freud explode..in a non-sexual way of course

Headcrab zombies from half-life 2.
If you listen to all that stuff they shout BACKWARDS, you'll probably have nightmares for the rest of your life.
