Alexander the Great. Why, because he enslaved millions. Was he a good leader, yes. Was he proof that homosexuals aren't all stereotypes, yes. Was he a great warrior, yes. Was he good in bed, most likely.

But he still committed crimes, he still was a bad person because of it, and while I may have respect for his ability in battle I still can not forgive anyone who enslave sentient beings of any race. Slavery is wrong and I will always hateful of anyone who encourages it.

Nero. The Crazy Roman Dictator who (Probably) set his own city ablaze because he was that crazy. Plus, he forced hundreds of good people into the arena to basically be killed off by lions.

Before reading furthure please note that I am not saying that you are evil for folling christianity.

dam just one guy or a whole group if a whole group it would have to be christianity from about 2000 years ago not mordern day christens very very very sorry if you took offense and if modderaters take this down i understand but considering that they basiclly had more power then any one else at the time from about 1000AD and 1600AD they ruled your life in Europe.

some priests had heratics, witches, and homosexuals tourtued or burned at the stake (thats where the term ****** was inveted to mean gays, they tossed them on witches fires saying that they where faggots of wood)
They started a holy war killing thousands and making a feud that goes on to this day destroyed many many native religions when exploration started
science and further human advancement barely moved and inch
not saying that any mordern christiens are evil today just saying that much pain and suffering has been done by those who say they do Gods work.

I know that christiens have done alot of good but in my own opinion christianity has alot against it.
You should be more specific, in that was The Roman Catholic church

And I think I'll not plumb the depths of history, and grab a more modern monster. I think Charles Taylor = pretty good candidate.

Forgot to post reasons
-child soldiers
I find nothing crushes me more then the thought of a 12 year little boy raping and murdering his own mother and sisters hopped up on coke.

I cant remember if it was Nero or Caligula (SP), but I believe it was because he wanted to beuild a new palace, but there was no room, so he burnt down the city to make room for it. You have to love the Romans... [sub]okay, you dont have too...[/sub]

Nah, he's not really evil... he's just got pretentions to evilness... sort of like delusions and all that. Will he get into power? Probably not. Will he get into power for long enough before he's killed? Definitely not.

Off the top of my head, I'd have to go for Vasili Blokhin, Executioner General of the NKVD (1926 onwards) for, without qualms, being personally responsible for more direct killing than anyone that ever breathed.

Ratko Mladic. He was captured 2-3 days ago.
One of my colleagues is in the unfortunate position of being that guy's dead ringer.

EDIT:

Millions?! No, don't think so, but the argument still stands. For some reason, no-one ever remembers the sieges that he conducted. You kinda get the feeling that they really really really really really pissed him off. Tyre & Gaza: adult men = killed; women & children = sold as slaves.

Bear in mind, though that sieges of walled cities almost always ended in one of three ways: besieging force loses interest and leaves; besieging force wins and sacks the city, enslaving the population; besieging force wins and sacks the city, killing (a certain proportion of) the population. There was never any middle ground... which explains the existence of walled cities up to and including the mid-nineteenth century, since a surrender was still no guarantee of safe parole (or otherwise). Granted by the 18th century, there was a little more 'civility' in sieges. I mean, who here knows just how many cities have official keys-to-the-city?

Genghis Khan was a ruthless general, this i know. But why was he evil? Kill count? Sorry didn't delve on his history too much. All i knew was that he was a great general and that he had the largest continuous empire in history.

Timur Lenk should apparntly be considered the Uzbekistan-born version of Hitler from the 14. and 15. century. His campaigns into Northern India should have been quite the slaughter!

Well as part of my GCSE History course i've been heavily studying Russia under the time of Lenin and Stalin and i'm actually going to say that Stalin isnt AS bad as some people with little understanding of what he actually did say he is.

First of all, the idea that Stalin started off all the totalitarianism terror in Russia is not true. It infact started under the leadership of Lenin (who wasn't all that nice), Stalin just took over the Bolshevik party and continued the direction Lenin was going upon.

Secondly during the time of collectivisation (which was when Stalin joined farms together in order to make them more efficient to farm with machinery as part of the modernisation of Russia) Stalin also introduced free health care and education, something which was yet to be introduced to Britain at this point.

Also Stalin through his five year plans (which admittedly happened at the same time as The Purges which led to millions being killed or imprisoned in Gulags in Siberia) managed to industrialise Russia at a phenomenal rate. It took Britain over a hundred years to industrialise (although we were the first to industrialise), it took the USA 40 years and Germany 30years. Stalin managed to industrialise the huge nation that is Russia in just over 10years.

So Stalin has done some good things, but people only see the bad things such as when his persecution complex led to his mass purging of civilians, government officials and military leaders alike.

Good and evil are utterly meaningless terms that vary from society to society. A few hundred years from now, when overcrowding leaves us crammed shoulder to shoulder through the streets fighting over the last croissant in the patisserie, the denouncement of genocide will be remembered as tragically quaint.

Mao Zedong, killed millions (more than "the Big Two") and all for the purposes of wiping out all culture that might inspire revolution/thinking that the days before the communist revolution were better e.g. mostly everything.

Mao, easy, he killed more than Hitler and Stalin combined (72 Million). He was responsible for the greatest famine in history (The Great Leap Forward), and then got sidelined by the more sane members his party. He then took revenge on all concerned with the longest and most unhinged reign of terror ever (The Cultural Revolution).

I'm not sure if Chairman Mao has been raised already, but given the ammount of people that suffered and died under his rule he deserves a mention.

Another worthy candidate has to be Pol Pot with his Year Zero campaign, pure malicious evil inflicted on his own people.

As a species we have produced some rather poor specimens. We have had dictators, serial killers, pedophiles and other degenerates in our society. But which is the worst? Which person is the epitome of human scum?
Define poor specimen... Who says that killing people and raping equals a poor specimen? Animals kill eachother (same race too) all the frigging time, yet i assume that you wouldn't call those that do "poor specimen".

Besides the views of good and evil being exactly that, views, I would probably go with many people involved in the Bosnia-Serbia conflict.

Reading through the accounts of the genocide... I felt genuinely shocked and disgusted, and I don't shock/disgust easily.
Be careful of which "accounts" you've heard. Many were proven false or exaggerated as measures of propaganda.

Any specific reasons?
He killed more than Stalin and Hitler put together.
Yeah when it comes to death counts Mao > Stalin > Hitler > Everyone else.
Ghengis Khan would like to have a word with you.

Other than that, the Serb fucksticks Milosevic and Karadzic come to mind, and Francísco Nguema from Equatorial Guinea. Murdering 1/3 of your population should always get you in the "top arsehole" discussion.
Hmm... nothing about the Croatian or Bosnian-Muslim war criminals... interesting skewed perspective there.
