I second that. That guy was a sick egotistical bastard who killed tens of millions and made many more suffer because he desired such. For what? Politics? Vanity? Neglect?

That man was a monster.
Also he screwed up China beyond belief....

To what end? Consider the end before you judge his policy. He probably is not that 'evil'.

I mean, he's a leader in civilization 4.

Nero. The orginial hitler.

After a fire in rome

(From Wikipedia)

Consequently, to get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their centre and become popular. Accordingly, an arrest was first made of all who pleaded guilty; then, upon their information, an immense multitude was convicted, not so much of the crime of firing the city, as of hatred against mankind. Mockery of every sort was added to their deaths. Covered with the skins of beasts, they were torn by dogs and perished, or were nailed to crosses, or were doomed to the flames and burnt, to serve as a nightly illumination, when daylight had expired.

What about societies formed over a religious/cultural basis? Like an Islamic/Jewish state?

Can somebody please explain why this deserves a three day suspension...?
I certainly agree with his opinion. Must I now be banned?

The mods don't like two-word posts.. Thats why ;)
Well that's a relief! I certainly hope that's the reason, I'd hate to think that the moderators of The Escapist supported Mao's actions...

Oh and...

Pedophiles? Oh come on OP, you can't help being retarded just like you can't help being a pedophilia. At least that's what Wikipedia tells me...

Anyway, I have no idea. My definition of 'evil' isn't fixed.
Sounds like you took a lot of offense there, something you want to tell us? And calling me retarded? Why? Some Pedophiles are more sick and dangerous than just people with a fetish.
Umm... You quoted the wrong guy there. I didn't say that.

Caligula. . If you wanna know why. He watched his whole city burn while playing the violin. And forced people to watch him act (he was crap) And if they didnt like it they got executed.
Nero you're thinking of mate. And just to be clear violins hadn't been invented yet and Nero actually acted quickly and effectively to try and stop the fire.

Now Caligula, he was a much nastier piece of work. Started well, then took Bacchus' revelries a bit to far for modern liking (or ancient Roman for that matter).
Actually its been proven that Nero wasn't even in Rome when it began to burn.

OT: I guess I would say that Mao Zedong is the most evil person in history.
Really? Ha, that doesn't surprise me all that much. Nice to learn something new.

And yeah, Mao was a pretty big bastard. At least Stalin built a global superpower on the bones of millions of dead. Mao seemed to go out of his way to ruin one.

I would like to believe that the OP meant "child molester" as opposed to "pedophiles". As far as I was informed, pedophilia isn't something one elects to be and being mean to someone based on their existence isn't very nice. : /

I'm not really sure the question posed is a decent one as "evil" is assigned meaning on an individual basis. Someone having been an asshole is much more clear cut(though still debatable at times). For instance, if I were to kill someone to save the life of another, I would be evil by some accounts and not evil by other accounts. However, most, assuming a world view of life being better than death, would agree that I was being an ass to the guy I killed, no? Though, personally, I would say that the theoretical "Adam" is the biggest jerk of all(albeit, perhaps, unintentionally). If it wasn't for Adam being a heterosexual, the people listed on this thread as "evil" wouldn't exist. : / Also, Sigmund Freud is my arch-nemesis, so clearly I'd consider him pretty "evil" from a subjective standpoint! Ernesto "Che" Guevara

Though the total numbers are nowhere comparable, he still killed more political prisoners per capita than fucking STALIN; that shows some pretty psychotic devotion to your work (in this case, mostly concentrated on running 24 hour death squads for a peak period during and after the Cuban revolution).

Do I think he's THE ABSOLUTE MOST HORRIBLE PERSON EVER - No. Can there BE a revolutionary coup d'etat without bloodshed and killing - No. But he's still a mass murderer, being sold on as a T Shirt logo to intellectual giants who think his claim to fame is being in "Rage Against the Machine".

Josef Mengele...the Nazi "Angel of Death" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josef_Mengele
^ THIS GUY!!!!!

Mengele was a Nazi science madman who performed horrible experiments without anaesthesia, sewing twins together, injecting stuff into eyes to see if it can change eyecolour. Yes this man definatelymeets the requirements of "most evil human in history".

Speking about Nazi's, there's another one who was quite horribad, Heinrich Himmler.

He was the leader of the Waffen SS, and was near the closest person for causing the holocaust.

Himmler coordinated the killing of some six million Jews, between 200,000 and 500,000 Roma, many prisoners of war, and possibly another three to four million Poles, communists, or other groups whom the Nazis deemed unworthy to live or simply "in the way", including homosexuals, people with physical and mental disabilities, Jehovah's Witnesses and members of the Confessing Church.

Shortly before the end of the war, he offered to surrender both Germany and himself to the Western Allies if he were spared prosecution. After being arrested by British forces, he committed suicide before he could be questioned.

"Dr" Mengele. He was a Nazi doctor who ran horrific experiments on Jewish people. I had to do a project on him and I was sick to my stomach by the end of the research.

As a species we have produced some rather poor specimens. We have had dictators, serial killers, pedophiles and other degenerates in our society. But which is the worst? Which person is the epitome of human scum?

The answer to that question varies from person to person, we have seen many wastes of skin in our brief time on earth. From Stalin to Charles Manson there are plenty of human garbage to pick from.

So who get's your vote for most evil human in history? It can be anyone, but to avoid repeat answers I'll have to ask you to refrain from answering Hitler or Stalin. So aside from them, who is one person that you wish was never born? And please explain why.

Personally, Idi Amin comes to mind. He was born in a Ugandan tribe and joined the army, he was an immense human being with incredible physical strengths. When the British left Uganda he was promoted to Colonel, and began to commit murders and steal money. Before he was delt with he disposed of the current leader at the time in a military coup and began to build he army to get himself more money and power. His army was made up of thugs who raped and tortured many people under Amin's orders, they ran a jail that had only 7 survivors who only survived because they ate human flesh and drink their own urine to live. Amin was thought to be a canibal. He even kept the heads of certain victems in his fridge and had photos of people being tortured in his jails for his own pleasure. He even chopped up his first wife when she displeased him.

He also purged anyone who wasen't a born Ugandan from Uganda, leading to an economic crisis in the country when no one knew how to run the stores they were given. Amin made his thugs step up their cruelty. He eventually was taken out of power when he invaded another African country and his thugs only knowing how to bully civilians got their asses kicked. There he fled to Saudi Arabia and got asylum there, he never paid for his crimes.

I picked this monster because unlike many leaders at the time he had no real politcal agenda, he was just a greedy bastard with a drive for power.
Ratko Mladic. He was captured 2-3 days ago.

Rodrigo Borgia. I was surprised to see that Assassin's Creed wasn't exaggerating about just how nasty this Pope was. Not even his own children were spared.
