What bands do you like that most people seem to hate? Mine would be 30 Seconds To Mars. I agree that Jared Leto comes across as a pretentious dickhole most of the time but they make some quality stadium rock tunes. I also enjoy a little Phil Collins every now and then (the Tarzan soundtrack is genius).
I don't know anyone who hates 30SM.

Mine would have to be

Disturbed
As I Lay Dying (I've got like four of their songs)
Evanescence
Nickelback (I've got a couple songs)

Insane Clown Posse, it seems most people arn't very fond of them
Same here, they actually have some very good melody's. Their lyrics are pretty crap a lot of the time (especially the censored versions) and they aren't great role models but I find them fucking funny.

Linkin Park as well, I'm not a huge fan and I'm quite aware they are a very simple pop band who sound exactly the same live, but they're not bad (they're older material). Much better than the bland crap I see on TV today.

The Black Eyed Pees, why the hell are they so famous? They juts puke out an overrated song every month or so and Fergy keep singing about how "Fergilicious" she is. Nothing but auto tune and catchy beats.

Edit: Whoops misread the title. Oh well.
THANK YOU!!! apparently not liking this group is the equivelent of being a nazi, a klansman, a WBC enthusist and a crunchy chick eater all at once

on topic i enjoy slipknot and stone sour(except for audio secrecy, the album was too popish for me, it reminded me of eddie riggs facepalming at the band he works for at the begining of brutal legend)

I see a lot of hate for Disturbed on these forums. That and the whole Nu Metal genre, so I guess it would be that. I don't understand the hate for Nu Metal and Disturbed has been consistently good throughout all of their albums. Sure, Asylum and Indestructible aren't as good as the first three (IMO) but they still have some great songs on them.

Most of my answers would be stuff like Nickleback, Linkin Park or Green Day, which are mainstream popular, but people who like to think of themselves as 'cool' and 'alternative' (read: wankers) say those bands are crap.

That said, I have a few guilty song pleasures on my iPod, like Eastern European Funk or a couple of songs from the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack.

I know some people who don't like Beck. I loved the Midnite Vultures album.
Wow, I don't think I've ever known anyone to not like Beck.

As for me, Backstreet Boys (their harmonizing is great) and Slipknot/Stone Sour. What really kills my friends is that I often have them on the same playlist. Along with stuff from VnV Nation, Suicide Commando, Barry Manilow, and Sarah McLachlan.

Nickelback.

Embarrassing to say it (I'm heavy into rock), and my friends would probably give me some really, really funny looks for saying it, but I like quite a lot of their songs.

I also like Faith No More, which is another one that my friends would stare at me weirdly for liking.

Miley Cyrus.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA kidding! I dunno actually. I like a lot of relatively unknown bands, but not many that are actively hated. I like some of Lady Gaga's stuff, but, again, it's not her music that's hated, just dickheads making jokes that were old four years ago.

FABLE REFERENCE WIN!
I like maybe a third of their songs. However, if you put the rest of the up at full blast, and you're at least somewhat tipsy, then they become good :p

I don't know about the rest of the world, but in my community the entire Slipknot fanbase makes up of me and a few of my friends...

... Everyone else hates them, "because they wear masks"...

I can understand if you don't like them because you don't like metal, or because their lyrics can be a bit messed ("Disasterpiece" FTW), but seriously? Because they wear masks????

/rantbitchplz/
Funny thing, that, I was just listening to Disasterpiece. I'm in a band that plays similar music. In my community, people don't like metal. At all. Any kind of metal. It's all "rap", hard-core, prejudice-filled rap. Give me anything, whether it's Slayer, Slipknot, Skeletonwitch, Clutch, Beneath the Sky, Trivium... anything over rap.

I love Andrew WK, and I've never met anyone else who can even tolerate him.

Also, I really like Slipknot and I almost never tell anyone, because I'm afraid of the reaction I'll get (although I do understand, they can be pretty ridiculous).

Lastly, the Frogs tend to get VERY strong love/hate reactions from people; luckily, I've gotten mostly positive reactions.
Andrew WK is completely awesome. Follow him on Twitter, the dude's hilarious.

I'm a big fan of Dream Theater, and while they don't always get a ton of hate, the people who do dislike them tend to be pretty vocal about it. The haters seem to think DT is just a bunch of instrumental wankery, which does happen on occasion, with no real talent.

FNM is a bit of an acquired taste. People know "Epic" and go in expecting a lot of funky rap-metal stuff. Then they hear "Woodpecker from Mars" and other nonsense and it scares them. Mike Patton is a vocal freak, by the way. All those zombie noises in the L4D games? Patton. With no vocal effects (for the most part).
