I loathe "Defenders". You know, the sort of fans who post TL;DR wordsalad whenever you throw down on franchise/game/movie/book X, usually prefaced by the line "A DEFENSE OF X". It always seemed to me that if X was worth defending, you wouldn't have to do it because it could stand up on its own merits. However, that doesn't stop the butthurt and ranting that invariably follows...

What's your least favorite type of fan?
I'm not talking Nintendo or Sony fanboys, I mean the classifications.
Example:
I hate "The Innovator."
These guys are the ones who are like, "Hey guys, y'know what would be amazing? Two player Zelda or Halo as a racing game." I hate these guys who are trying to bump up games that are good with ideas that in reality would fall apart. Especially the ones from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
"Geno should be in there and there should be costume specific Final Smashes."

I also hate elitists and skeptics.
FAnboys/girls in general. You know, the ones that tell you to go fuck a horse because you don't jizz over everything that they like and never find fault in anything.

With people on Youtube? Ahahah. hahah. AhAHAHAHAA-A. Uhm. I forgot where I was going.
Kinda quoted me out of context there... The point I was making is that thoughtful discussion isn't allowed on youtube...

Not really specific groups of fans, just closed-minded people. Just because something isn't produced by Nintendo, or isn't realistic, or isn't an FPS or whatever doesn't mean it's bad. try something new once awhile, would ya?

Oh God. I'm pretty sure I'm an Innovator.

Not that I like Geno or anything. I still don't get why people like that little freak so much.

Anime fangirls. More than anything.

Hey fangirls? See those guys in that anime you like? No, they're NOT gay, no matter how many fanfics you write.
oh and this too. I swear for aslong as Im alive I may never understand it. writing themselves in so that a character falls for them is one thing but them doing what you described boogles and blows my mind. You don't(often) see anime fanboys doing the equivalent (ie. fem slash fics) far more often than not the normal fans write hetero pairings that seem to be the norm in anime (and it only gets gay if thats the way it is in that particular anime)

I hate the ones that are blindly loyal and will give money every year for the same game with a different title. I'm looking at you Madden fans!
me: what's the difference between Madden'09 and '10
fan: the updated the roster for the teams so its the same as the league.
me: couldn't they just use a 5 dollar online update? wait.. doesn't that mean your losing just as many players as your gaining?
I agree except I'm "In England" so it's mainly Fifa 09, 10, world cup, summer holidays, whatever but it's the same thing... And fans that think they can be the only fan of that game/band/whatever and that they are very close to those they worship.

Using the power invested in me through to much time looking at webcomics, I will show some of the worst fans (sorry it's in URLs):
http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/4/27/ The idiot fan who can't make a logical argument that doesn't disprove previous statments
http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2002/1/9/ I'm with Tycho on this one. Those that can't stop bragging/constantly telling you about information you have no interest in
http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2000/8/2/ those who can't take an argument
I don't hate Macs. STOP THROWING THE IPODS!
Others include: Those who believe that nothing can be better than their favorite game, and it shows any signs of being better, it must be destroyed
Those who believe any change is bad change
Fans that write fic that change sexual orientation of characters/drastically change character attitudes. Spock is not, and will never be gay. There probably are some gay characters that went straight in fanfic, but I can't think of any. Second half of sentence: Gurney Hallack (Dune series, hope I spelled last name right) is not a wimp. Ratchet is not a gun wielding, doesn't take no for an answer, storm in and kill everyone, badass.
Last one: insanely obsessive/blindly loyal fans. If you criticize the (form of media) you are bad. If you criticize the characters, you are evil. If you didn't pay attention to (form of media) you must be converted or slain. If you don't like said elements of (form of media) or mythology used in (form of media) (be it vampires, zombies, humans, robots, etc.) you are the anti-(deity/religious symbol). If you point out a flaw with merit or compose a good argument about (form of media), you must be silenced by any means necessary. Those annoy me the most of all the ones I mentioned.

Isn't that every person, evar!?

If somebody says to somebody else I think the thing you like is pants, your obviously going to say something to defend it. If they launch into a 45 minute spoken/written essay then I understand what you mean.

The ones that can't accept people don't like what they like (maybe to there extent), for example.

I have seen MANY posts on this very forum about the total worship of PC gaming, things like "console kiddies" even "console tards" being posted just makes me think "I thought this site was better than that".

I like the occasional RTS for which consoles are not suited for (I don't care how good your control layout is C&C on a console isn't happening) but I love my PS3 and I prefer gaming on it, including FPS games.

Some even seem to take as an insult that a console could be compared to a PC.

The whiny kind... the one that went totally batshit-crazy when Yahtzee ripped Monster Hunter Tri, or didnt like FF13. God, i hate their inability to accept other peoples opinions about their beloved who-gives-a-shit and move on. /rant

The ones who will blatantly criticize their favorite game's competitors without knowing anything about them.

I hate the ones that can't seem to have a single conversation without trying to tell you about whatever game they are currently in love with.

When/If you finally play it you know half the stuff in it already and the whole experience is mired by the one person who wants you to enjoy it.

Then once your done they then believe that is an excuse to talk more about the game at you.

By then your sick and tired of hearing about it so much that your thinking of places to dump the body.

And yet they still keep going!

There are sub-divisions of fans? I just thought a fan was a fan. Having read the thread so far, I think near enough every fan of anything does pretty much everything of fan classes that you are describing. It's not the fact they are fans that wind you up, its the fact that they cannot contruct an efeective argument, or that they see your argument as an affirmation of their own lack of intelligence. Which then brings out the "My Dad is harded than your Dad" mentalities
