Then the girl next to me pops out this gem: Video games don't teach you anything, luckily the people who played games that weren't me shot that one down fast.

The vice president (female) of our Physics Society is a master at Mortal Kombat. She gets twice the amount of those kind of comments, since there are all of 4 girls (out of about 35 people) in my year.

I've gotten similar questions. People are quite surprised when I inform them that the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games have expanded my Mandarin vocabulary by about 40%. A friend of mine uses STALKER to retain his Russian, and my cousin in Asia went from typing letter by letter with only the index finger of her right hand to averaging ~60 wpm after I introduced her to Maple Story.

I remember talking to a friend about why he hadn't sampled Arkham Asylum, which everyone should have tried. He said he wouldnt play it, and upon further inquiry it turned out he wouldnt play it because he thought Superman was a superior hero, therefore Batman games were inferior. So he refuses to play a super hero game until Superman gets his own title. I hit him with an empty Arkham asylum case for about 2 minutes.
