Although I never played the game I knew a programmer who worked on the AI in The Mummy Returns videogame. He made the final boss unbeatable on the first release because there were no credits/end scene made to follow!

No-one seems to win this obscure little game called the 'search box'
Took longer than I thought for that game to show up.

Shinobi on the PS2 frustrates me to no end with it diffculty.
When I saw this thread I thought
'took longer than I thought for a 'Hardest game EVARRRRR' topic to show up again

Iridion 3D for the game boy advance is the most difficult game I've ever played. It only used ONE button (shoot), and it took me 43 tries to beat the first level (I got vaporized at the start of the second).

I could never beat Onimusha Warlords. I probably could beat it now, but I was young at that time and that first boss just kept taking hits like he was the fucking terminator. Then my brother sold it for money. I still don't trust him with games anymore.

F-Zero GX on Hard or above is insane.
Beating some of the races on Easy was already damned hard, but doing it on any other difficulty required amazing reflexes and skill.

The list of ridiculously tough games is longer than most mathematicians can count but the ones that stick in my mind are the intro to spiderman 3 (watch as opponents repeatedly knock you to the ground until you die , even then you have to pray the physics engine doesn`t freak out) megaman the early rainbow sixes which were like trying to demolish a brick wall by running at it dishwasher :dead samurai turns ridiculously tough past the halfway point when multiple groups of opponents take turn shooting you in the back while you chase them

I'll easily vote for Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2. Come on, a boss that explodes and kills you?!
I hear that. Never finished those.

The first Castlevania got really hard too; when you get to the 2nd tower.

Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat.

one level was made so hard because there was no level beyond it, one guy DID get past, and the game locked up.

Ooooh, another good one: Devil May Cry 3 on Dante must Die mode. Before they fixed the difficulty settings, mind you.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope.

They throw you in a level without the vaguest idea of what the fuck your supposed to do, the bosses are impossible to get through without gamefaqs because you need to know the right party set-up and the only fucking spot you can damage the boss at.

I should have stuck to my "JRPG = Bad" instinct and told the gamespot employee who kept suggesting it to shove it up his ass.

Anyone here ever play Bonesaw? I was convinced that the game had a little gremlin programmed into it, because I could've sworn I heard a demented little giggle every time I died.

Viewtiful Joe on Adults mode? Weren't any of you man enough to get to V-rated? I made it to The Magnificent 5 on Ultra V-Rated, but I never had the endurance to make it through Another Joe after the bloodbaths that were Charles the Third and Hulk Davidson. I shudder to think of the catastrophes that still wait ahead on that cruel, skull-icon-free road...

Edit: I forgot to mention Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? That game is foolishly hard. I made it to the Chefbot 3000 or whatever, and he was so hard that the game stopped being fun.
