As far as i heard, it's about a normal family getting involved in some kind of mafia business or something. They really seem to be learning from mistakes they did (except not releasing the bloody thing for PC).Iron Mal said:Realistic looking but it will probably fall down a simmilar hole that it's predacessor Farenheit did, that being that it's trying to be a blend of a movie and a game (neither of which are known for their dedication to reality), it may not do it as badly as Farenheit did (zombie savior and the glowstick-man death cult?) but it will certainly be far from what we define as 'realistic'.daconcon said:when heavy rain comes out it will probably be ridiculously realistic
If you could explain how forcing a shotgun shell out of your elbow somehow makes you healthier, I'd love to know.wouldyoukindly99 said:Far Cry 2 the shrapnel wounds realistic foliage and great graphics make for one really great looking game.
Steel Batallion is the greatest Mech Simulation Engine I've ever played. Unfortunately, once you figure out how to control the damn thing (Your mech is surpsingly nimble once you get the hang of it) you find that there is virtually no fun to be found in the game. Perma death? Fine, I can accept that. But fuel limits, arbitrary time limits, finding crates in a jungle with nothing to point out where to go and unlimited respawning infantry that you can't see until they shoot you, and a vehicle resource limit that effectively works out to a life limit? Sorry, the game lost me.Space Spoons said:Steel Battalion is supposed to be realistic to the point of ridiculousness. It's a game where you pilot a giant mecha suit. Sounds like something that doesn't exactly lend itself to realism, right? Wrong! Sit down!
All those fancy knobs and levers? They've all got a purpose. Playing Steel Battalion isn't as simple as turning the game on and going; you've got to memorize and execute a complicated boot sequence, the kind you'd probably have to memorize when starting a plane. Then, only after you've powered up your mech, do you get to move around and 'splode stuff.
But the realism doesn't stop there. If you find yourself in a tight spot, you'll be given multiple prompts to eject. After all, if your mecha's about to explode, it only makes sense that you'd want to get out in time, right? Well, here's the kicker. If you try to pull a George Kirk (Captain Kirk's father. Sacrificed himself to... Ah, forget it) and pilot your giant mecha through to the explosive end, your character is killed... And your save file is erased, effectively mimicking what real-life death would mean for you.
How's that for realism?
It's realistic for a brand new ak to magically collect grime all over it when fired, jamming after 3 magazines and exploding within 10? Same with bolt action rifles that somehow jam because an empty casing teleported itself into the breech when an attempt was made to fire the gun. Or the RPG that has the handle break off after the third rocket.Sir Roflpwn said:You know what is realistic about it besides the guns? There are black people in Africa.

There was a WW2 game a little while back with pretty much no HUD and about two shots killed you. It was very realistic, but utter crap. I can't recall the name...
I'd say Insurgency, definitely.Fluffles said:Insurgency is pretty damn realistic... but it is a mod.
