But answered it nontheless. No need to crack out the snide comments just because of a misunderstanding. Whether they're capable or not, this isn't about new members using the search bar. It's about a zealous enforcement of using it even on ideas that were done over a year ago and are perfectly reasonable to re-use because new members aren't exactly going to go looking for threads from last year.
Are you saying that new members intentionally avoid a thread from last year?
Because I seriously doubt that. If a thread is on the front page people post in it. I don't see why you are so fixated on the date of the thread.
Bottom line, we have the search bar for a reason. So use the search bar. There is no reason not to use it other than to be lazy.
Ooh, you sneaky man, making me think this'd been forgotten.
No, that's absolutely not what I'm saying. What I'm saying, yet again I suppose, is that a new member will most likely be settling in and looking at the threads on the front page, not delving into threads from last year. However that second part is what I've been saying all along. People post in threads they see on the front page, not hidden in the archives. Keep this thing going in one direction, mmmkay?
If the search bar yields only 1 similar result which is from over a year ago, then you've done your part and it's perfectly reasonable to use the topic.
