Title says it all, whats the most scariest thing you've encountered in a game?

Doesn't have to mean the game itself was scary, either a particular boss or monster or maybe set peice that frightened you.

For me, i'd say flood in Halo, especially the first one in the first game because A. I wasn't expecting it B. the lil gits come from everywhere and jump all over you.

Also the barnacles in HL2 scare me so much i skip parts with them in it(as lame as that sounds)

err, Doom 3 has freaky moments i guess what the Pinkys can be a bit eek but i spose not the scariest of creatures i've come across :)

I searched and couldn't find this topic, only scariest games and most disturbing enemies, rather than scariest monsters/creatures/level design/set-peices or just generally scary moments etc

The Giant Dinosaur (named a V-rex interestingly) in the King Kong game is huge, monstrous and in the first person survival mode cannot die. He walks up to you in a steady pace and all you can hear are his great thumping feet and you have to keep him distracted and avoid him at the same time.

Feral Ghoul Reavers from Fallout 3.... oh my god they suck and run at you crazy "new Dawn of the Dead" style.
But also I hated the Boost Ball Guardian from Metroid Prime 2... That guy is just a dick.

Pyramid head is the most creepy monster I've run into due to the atmosphere he gives off (totally insane, perverse, etc). Although for non-boss monsters the Twitchers from Dead Space are definitely the most un-nerving because of their speed and habit of sneaking up behind you.

The Dead Hands from LoZ OoT.

The first time I encountered one, I imminently paused and ran out of my room scared. (this is when I was young)

And that giant buff mutant thing from FarCry.

The Zephonim (spider) vampires in Soul Reaver. I was only a little girl at the time, and they scared me so much I had to take the game back.

I've re-bought and finished the game since, though.

For Creep Factor, i have to go with the entire cast of zombies off System Shock 2. they made no sound when they spotted you, but were always there, lead pipe or shot gun in hand to make short work of you. that and their constant emotionless dialogue about how insignificant and fragile you are compared to them. (They really are shodans creations in that respect)
The biggest killer to my self esteem in my high school years, ever.

that place was crazy-insane. i recommend staying out of there until you have Faulks with you. the big trade off is that the mini-gun Vengeance is in there waiting for you.
their hand makes a good Melee weapon too.
