i'd go for RE4 The Regenerator
Damn, ninja...

OT: I agree with the above post, although I think unnerving is a better word than scary. I find enemies you can't kill rather unsettling.
The monks are pretty freaky too, especially when you hear their chanting in surround. But the worst is the Verdigo (tunnel boss). It moves so fast and you're at such close quarters with it.
i really didnt like that dude... when you only the really creepy noise they make o_O

The fast zombie from HL2. It was a close tie between the regenerator and the fast zombie, but the fast zombie can jump out at you on more occasions.

Victim 7&8

I still think its worse than Pyramid Head
Oh man, the worst thing was when if they saw you they only pointed at you and stood still until you got closer. They always gave me chills.
Ugh...
Man am I the only one who coulden't continue the game when I saw this thing?
I was 10 when I played and got scared to the point where I couldn't finish the game, now I'm 15 and I FINALY finished it.
o_O I still don't understand whats so scary about Pyramid Head, Theres alot more fucked up creatures in Silent Hill.

A-hem, back on topic, even I've only saw someone else play the game, the scariest creature I have seen in a game is Pyramid Head from Silent Hill: Homecoming...or this terrifying creature...

The Bloodsucker (It sucks other things in my opinion) from STALKER. You can't see it. Ok I can stand that. It always waits for you and makes very weird noise until you get close so it can attack you. I can stand that. But it always hides in the darkest, scariest, most depressing places ever. Well, if you aren't scared of that in the night, alone in the room, with a high volume and a barely working AK-47, then you must be a Bloodsucker yourself.

The things in the orphanage in Theif.. I would hide in the shadows for 15 minutes to make sure none were around before moving to the next shadow.

The original Halo flood spooked me out for a bit at first.

Other than that not much else scares, rather they make me jump by surprise alla Dead Space or Bioshock.

Probably the enemies in Abuse, not a new (or well known) game for the Mac. Concept art was fucking scary. Or any part from Amber (same as Abuse). I hate ghosts, and the random children's laughter was scary as fucking hell.

Either the fast zombies, regenerators from RE4 or the Ceiling grab your face hands from Ocarina of Time. I didn't even see it coming first time, I just heard that wooshing noise getting louder and louder. Scares me to this day.

Oh, and the papier mache spider splicers in Bioshock. Almost pissed myself when they started moving, especially in that room where the manakins slowly change into the statues. What's worse is they don't make any sounds.
Honourable mention goes to Giygas from Earthbound. Seriously screwed up boss right there.

As for the scariest moment in gaming, this has to be eternal darkness: sanity's requiem. The bath scene. That's the last time I examine anything again.

Hobos from Condemned were the main thing that scared the piss out of me those most in a recent game. When the flashlight goes out and you're completely covered in darkness, you hear a cough to your left. Your flashlight charges, so you turn it back on to see A CRAZED DRUNKEN HOBO WITH A LEAD PIPE, LEAPING FOR YOUR FACE.
I turned off the system at that point and didn't look back too often.

I was damn scared when I saw them, then found them really hard to kill the first time because they looked like babies. Chainsaw made short work of them though.

I would have to say the scariest creature I played against would be the fast zombies from Ravenholm in Half Life 2. Especially at 2 in the morning and its your first time playing Ravenholm.

Or the zombine while waiting for the elevator in episode 1

Waddle Dee frome kirby64... no just kidding probably the large monster from Half Life (cant remember the name) you cant kill it so you have to run away and have it follow you so you can electricute it but it scared the shit out of me.

I also think that the scariest looking monster was the village chief in that burning barn from Resident Evil 4. He just creeped me out... OH and the Iron Maidens from RE4. When one of those came walking around a corner, I near shit my pants.
after beating that game a couple times it isn't as scary as it was the first.

never met one of those yet, Mirelurks sometimes freak me out cuz they sneak up behind you.. or you turn around and see one charging towards you
you don't even get the chance with deathclaws if they get the drop on you and you dont see them coming you will be dead before you can turn around

Anything in the caves/dungeons of Oblivion scared me when I saw them, either from view or getting hit.

Weird, it was only that game, Fallout was fearless to me.

I always thought the "victims" in Silent Hill 4: The Room were particularly well-rounded foes.

Especially as you delved deeper into the lore of the game and discovered that each and every victim was an individual with tangible past, life and tragedy. If yet frail, you suddenly had an empathic connection to the monsters that were trying to murder you.
And that added mixture of repulsion and sympathy made the whole ordeal, if possible, even more trying.

I suppose the overall same description applies to the hybrids/splicers of "Shock"-series fame.

I suppose most of the critters from Doom 3 freaked me out. Except the floating skulls. Those just pissed me off. The Well and Shadow Temple in LoZ: OoT REALLY freaked me out as a kid. I still can't go into that damn well without freaking... It's not even the well itself that scared me or what was in it. No it was the /music/. It was just that freaky. Now the Shadow Temple... it scared me because of the massive blades that came down and tried to end me.

Heck, even Oblivion freaked me out with the massive guillotine things in the Ayleid ruins. x_x
