Most everyone I've met seem to be under the impression that Def Jam Vendetta and it's sequel, Fight for New York, sucked. As a dyed-in-the-wool fighting game aficionado, I whole-heatedly believe that that they didn't. In fact, they're two of my favorite fighting games. FFNY features one of the most fascinating, diversified combat systems I've ever come across.
HELL YEAH MAN!! Def Jam Fight For New York is hands down my favorite fighting game and the best ive ever played, it had solid environments you could use, a great varied choice of weapons from beer bottles to the feared comb, and had a solid fighting system with a very diverse combat system like you said. It was just one amazing game

Hmm was F-Zero X for N64 underrated? if so, unjustly... i think it's the greatest racing game. Still.

Vietcong on PC. The sequel was over inflated and got rid of everything from the first game that people loved. Taking the fight from the jungle to the city was a disaster, despite the vietcong campaign, the shinier visuals, the slew of new weapons and the multiplayer tweaks.

I can remember spending hours playing a really old game called "God of Thunder" (i think) it may have only been a demo or something i can't really remember but i still had a lot of fun playing it, (Or maybe i was just easily entertained as a child).

These were mentioned earlier in the thread, and they're my most favorite games of all time.

Oh and Digimon Card Battle for the PSone, despite having been forced to play at first (since I don't like them "Pokemans" and "Deejeemouns" much), is actually quite fun and unusually deep. It's panned by critics, the critics that also don't like these kinds of games. They mentioned their dislike for these kiddy games yet they fail to mention how the game plays and how much depth is behind it.

Not sure if it's underrated or not, but Ratchet Deadlocked was loads of fun for me, but most of the reviews and comments I see about it give it a lot of lip. That and Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts for the 360. I can't put my finger on what makes that game so addicting ffor me.

Every time theres a thread about under-rated games, every other post includes psychonauts and/or Beyond good and evil. These games are obviously not under-rated, and are well received by many gamers and critics.

I loved a game on the ps2 called Evergrace. Critics said it was abysmal, but I loved the story and atmosphere enough to play through the shit parts of it.

I agree with whoever said Def Jam: Fight For New York and Freedom Fighters. I never hear Freedom Fighters mentioned anywhere, but making Red Dawn: The Game was an awesome idea.

Also, and this is really embarrassing (or so I'm told), I really liked the Matrix game for XBox where you play as Jada Pinkett. If I paid for it, maybe I wouldn't have liked it so much, and the last two levels were horrible, but I had so much fun being a total badass and murdering people in bullet time while running on walls. That's the only game I can think of that everybody else seemed to hate that I had a fun time playing.

Dark chronicle / Dark cloud 2, anyone?
I didnt really like the first one, it was nice but the second blew it away.
There was loads of things to do, secret dungeons, secret area's, LOADS of weapons and synthesis combonations.
I spent 200 hours on 1 save file and still havent got it as a master save...

What? I was 9, cut me some slack. :<

It was panned by critics and sold poorly and in part led to the closing of Clover studios, but man is it ever an awesome game. You can tell that it barely cleared alpha, the levels are bare and the graphics are not great, but what you do have is a game with an amazing fighting system and a lot of attention to detail where combos and motion captured moves are concerned. See for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC2MvIC4j6E
Dude never even heard of it but from the vid it looks fucking awesome! Wish i had know a/b it and had a ps2...

Anyway I'd say crysis actually, people bash it so much for being eye candy and nothing else but I actually rather enjoyed playing it. Admittedly the story was predictable, well fine bad, the fights were repetitive, enemies were uninteresting, etc. but I thought the gameplay was actually quite good and I found myself kind of enjoying some of the cutscenes. I'm not sure if its underrated, but Republic Commando was one of my most favorite games ever. It was made for xbox original, but i still go back and play it sometimes. Best game EVER!

Also, Mirror's Edge. Everyone said how much of a disappointment the game was, but I've just borrowed it from a friend and its pretty cool. Not amazing, but definitely worth a try and it tried to be different from the other generic games out now.

I play video games. I know what you're thinking. Wooptee fuckin' do, you play games. Well I am one of a select few who play video games because other people think they're bad. Except games about movies. They actually suck. And I've been surprised to find that most people are wrong. No surprise there. I have enjoyed several games that television idols and our own Yahtzee tore to pieces. I would like to know if there is anyone else that feels this way, or that you're all a bunch of slack jawed gits who do what people you've never met tell you to do because they posted it on the internet.
Masters of Orion 2, X-com, Master of Magic ate alot of time in my younger days,.

I doubt anyone will say it or agree, but Runescape....I know I know, it's like a sin to enjoy that game, but I did, for awhile, and every once in awhile I still go back to it so leave me alone....
