Never given any depth? They are given considerable depth. Well, perhaps not Sakura, but Naruto is a pretty deep and three-dimensional character. And while I agree with your choosing Sasuke, I disagree with your motivation. He, too, is deep and develops.[/quote]

i found naruto predictable, he was also loud and obnoxious and kinda full of himself. I also found his dialogue felt repetitious and he never expressed more substance to his character other then treading over the same material used repeatedly. His character never really goes anywhere.

as for susuke he too felt like a tape on a continues loop, sure he had a tragic pass and i understand his emotion but the writers needed to expand on his character, i not sure how to expalin it but it may have something to do with dialogue. i think both these characters never really go through intrspection or reflect on themselves enough.

Do you wanna know what I call change of mindset?
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
Well the thing with Edward is that he changes his mind every 5 minutes and there isn't always a reason for it. His brother might try to help him achieve a goal and he'd become really pissed off for no apparent reason.

Goku from DBZ. The guy has no education, no job, and no interests other than fighting. He's also completely irresponsible; leaving his wife and two children to fend for themselves not once, but twice, once to go train in otherworld, and again to train Uub. And dispite everything, all the other characters consistantly follow his orders and put faith in his hair brained plans.

For example:

- "Let's not interfere while Pikolo, Android 16 and Tien are fighting cell, waiting around here for Vegeta and Trunks to come out is much more important"

- "Let's send the 9 year old to go get the dragon radar even though I can move at the speed of light"

- "Let's give a damaged and fatigued Cell a free sensu bean, I'm sure my 11 year old son will no problem beating him anyway"

- "We won't need sensu beans on Namek, I'll just eat them all on the journey" (Yes I have been watching Team4Star's DBZ Abridged, how did you know?)

- "It'll be fine if I leave the Earth unguarded to hang out with the Yardrat, it's not like Garlic jr. or Freiza could possibly come back. Besides my mortal enemy Vegeta is there, I'm sure he's turned over a new leaf"

- "Gee this instant transmission thing sure is useful, you'd think in the 3 years I spent training for the Androids, as well as the year in the hyperbolic time chamber with Gohan, I'd have shown someone else how to do it. Nevermind, they probably don't need it"
lol that was hilarious, I forgot about the abridged series on youtube, I'll have to finish off watching them.

Camille Bidan - Zeta Gundam. Every episode has him whining or being overly emotional.
Sasuke - Naruto. I get it. You're emo.
Naruto - Naruto. "Believe it!"
Kira - Gundam Seed. So you killed a guy, big deal. Quit whining.

Come to think of it, nearly every Mobile Suit Gundam had a main character who whined incessantly.

Shinji Ikari, his whining is legendary.
Agreed, I got to episode 2 and decided it wasn't worth it. I'd heard enough about the series to know what was going to happen. I typically go into things like anime knowing the conclusion, but going in for the journey. Nope, not this time.

EVERYONE from Naruto.

Except Shikamaru...I think that's his name.
But yes, that's why that show was too much of a pain to watch.

I guess I stand corrected. ;)

Also I'm curious, did you watch the English dub or the Japanese version with subtitles? Because if it was the dub then I can easily see where you are coming from, pretty much all dubs are bad (IMO) but her voice in that one was just absolutely HORRIBLE and made me want to pull my own ears off.
i watched the japanese version. I didn't like anyone in that series but Asuka just takes the cake in annoyance

Honestly, I can't name a single character specifically, but I can say that I auto-hate any of the ones that refer to themselves in the 3rd person. Usually it's a female, and usually it's done to give the impression of innocence, naivete, or immaturity. I think it's one of anime's lamest character devices, but there you have it. Any character, usually female, that rather than saying "me" or "I" refers to themselves by their own name.

I kinda dislike naruto because he's such a damn idiot it makes me wanna reach into the screen and stab him repeadetly in the eye-socket until all his stupid f***ing remarks are drowned in a pool of his own blood and brain matter or lack there of, although he's really coming into his own in shippuuden.
P.S. It is a great f***ing anime.
