I fail to see how this actually parodies Hitler. I mean if you want to mock the guy, have Captain America punching him in the face (oh wait, he was secretly a Nazi this whole time)
It's reducing him down to marketing gimmick ala Chester Cheetah?

Yeah I've seen people who like Mountain Dew love to do that. A few friends of mine love the piss tasting drink and when they had their 4 flavour sell most contest everyone referred to the white one as "White Powder" due to the white powder used to give it the colour and flavour, and to make the very obvious pun.

The reason this is pretty unacceptable, well several, but first and fore most is: There are actually a significant number of people who actually believe that "Hitler did nothing wrong" and either "the Holocaust was a lie", or "with the way the Jews were acting, they deserved the holocaust and they don't deserve sympathy for it today." There are plenty of people just stupid enough to take such a "joke name" totally at face value with seriousness.

That's beside the point it's an unmotivated, lazy, internet meme level joke that really isn't that funny. The amount of piss it takes is less than an ant can provide.

I don't see why not, since I already like regular Mountain Dew. It's so obviously false that I don't see how anyone (short of, say, actual concentration camp victims and their kin) could be legitimately offended, unless they're acting offended on behalf of others.

Even if there are crazies out there who truly think that Hitler did nothing wrong, they're such a tiny minority that I don't see why we can't just laugh at their stupidity and move on.

I'd probably buy it for the novelty, like the Pac-Man and Mario-themed energy drinks I have sitting around.

I consider myself lawful, therefore I do not like the fact that they ignored the online poll. Why make poll if you are just gonna make whatever you want? Bastards.

I don't drink carbonated drinks. So...

So the company DIDN'T back down and made good on their campaign. Heck, I'll buy a can if I see one just for that. Though I doubt I'll see them here in the Netherlands.

Because I'm a sick, sick woman.
Well, of course you are. Anyone would be sick after drinking a can of Mountain Dew.

...What do you take me for, someone without standards? I said it'd go on my shelf. I'd never drink it, I have enough health problems.

You mean the flavor of Mountain Dew isn't already offensive enough?
Okay, ya see, now I'm triggered.

I know I'm sterotype, I friggin love Diet Mt Dew.
Diet Dew? Pff, you pansy. Real men drink Throwback Dew!
Incidentally I wonder what happened to Throwback Dew. It seems to have vanished from every store in my area. I loved that stuff. Went down as well as vodka spiked with boar piss but the aftertaste was sublime.

Let me get this out of the way. I hate Mountain Dew. I despise it. The stuff tastes terrible moments after you open it so you need to drink it fast. I buy anything else BUT Mountain Dew and at places I eat that only have Mountain Dew, I avoid it unless that's all they have and everything else is terrible.

If they actually went through with it, I'd be buying cases of Hitler Did Nothing Wrong for the rest of my life and hoping that other kinds have similar like Cactus Cooler and Squirt, just so I can complete the quadrilogy of drinks along with Tentacle Grape, stock them inside a vending machine outside my house, and mark myself as a shitposter in life for as long as I shall live.

And you'd all be invited to the grand opening. We can use those soda can launchers once the ATF gets its' head out of its' ass about it being classified as AOW.

While I get it... I mean the reason it's funny to me is that he very clearly DID do wrong. Like there hasn't been nearly a greater evil on this planet since the son of *****. It's as plain as the sky being blue to me.
Nearly? Since? There were greater evils at the time! Stalin? Mao? The Japanese made the Nazis look like saints in comparison. Of course, ranking high-level evil isn't an easy task, not least because you need to pause and go hug someone every so often.

I see your point, though; the guy was pretty damn evil. Few would deny that. What worries me is this attitude that you can't do something because someone will interpret it incorrectly. So a couple of ethically lackluster folks appreciate in "unironically" (whatever the hell that means)- so what? Should we avoid mocking anything for fear people will think we approve of it?

No thanks.

I'm well over 15 now, so the dumb 4chan-esque "jokes" aren't really funny to me anymore.

No no. If it was 4Chan soda it be called "Rape Cola"

And less tongue and cheek, and more just... offensive. I think 4Chans humor is way different then the idea of Hitler being like an extreme 90s mascot cartoon character.

4Chan humor is like reading the Encyclopedia Dramatica on that JewWario youtube streamer, were they pretty much mock the poor bastard for committing suicide. It's not even funny, it's just... mean.

No, because it's not just a joke, there are people that actually claim this, or who look rather similar if you squint a bit.
That's similar to the arguments used to try and censor music lyrics in the 80's and 90's. I'm sick of having to pay for the idiots of the world. We should be able to have dark jokes and nice things despite the fact that some assholes will try and ruin it. My current D&D group is coincidentally 60% people of Hebrew heritage (myself included) "Hitler did nothing wrong" Mt Dew would become an ongoing gaming joke at our table for years to come.
I tend to find people that claim to love dark humor though some of the time don't really know what dark humor is. Like They'll just say racist things and call it dark humor.

Where as real dark Humor is like in The Things They Carried. Curt Lemon plays catch with his fellow soldier with a smoke grenade most days. It's harmless fun. One day they accidentally use a real grenade, Curt gets blown up. His body parts and guts are hanging in the tree. All the soldiers in the platoon come and kinda take in the horror of it.

Finally one of them speaks "Hey look, it's a lemon tree."

That's dark humor, if it doesn't sting a bit, it ain't dark.

I think on a certain level we have to. It's just the sign of the times, you anger the wrong group of people your life is gonna get fucked up for a while.

Is it right? hell no, but thats the world we find ourselves in. A fine mess.
