Good. Even if the video is taken out of context it has always annoyed me when Bob talks abou PC gaming. I don't pretend to know a damned thing about Nintendo or platformers and the like because they as well as many other aspects of console gaming are just not something I have much personal experience with. Wish Bob would do the same with PC gaming.
Maybe someone of high position challenging Bob's thoughts on the subject will encourage him to either leave it alone in the future or at least do more thorough research. Maybe ask people with more experience with the genre...
Or it could turn out quite the opposite with Bob declaring a personal crusade. We shall see! Should be fun to watch whatever the case should Bob choose to respond.
I doubt it. If you look at his responses to opposing viewpoints ("The Nineties Sucked", "Is Django Racist", the part where he insulted anyone who liked The Expendables and ranted at them for ruining Scott Pilgrim, etc), they're non-apologies at best, and rarely take the actual criticism into account, and tend to try to spin it. So much that he misses the original criticism by a mile.
I love his videos, particularly his movie reviews, but he's rather intractable.
More than I say. I don't watch anything he does anymore, not when he treats almost every subject with the grace and maturity of a seven-year old CoD player with pixie stix. He is an elitist of the highest regard, a hypocrite in multiple fields, and frankly far too arrogant for someone who matters as little as he does.
Actually, that brings up another two points which continually annoy with regards to both hypocrisy and tangentially, Call of Duty. Nintendo fanboys should avoid criticising Call of Duty for not innovating more in each game, when they themselves go into a rabid frenzy for the return of... the Tanuki suit. Where's your innovation Mario? #sarcasm. Gee, it's just more platforming. We've seen that before hurr durr. Oh, really? Releasing the same game again are we (Literally).
I think what annoys me most is his disingenuity. He calls the 90s a vacuum, citing no war or political things (Gee, ever heard of a man called Saddam? A little place called Kuwait? Actually, that entire region? A little school called Columbine?) no cultural icons (Because Nirvana never happened, Marilyn Manson wasn't a thing, Fight Club wasn't a movie, American Beauty didn't happen, and the resurgence of video games isn't important, and no prevailing attitude, despite being happy to call other decades a hangover, apparently rage, dissatisfaction, and the effects of previous social changes causing dissatisfaction. And then he says he was being sarcastic when he was clearly playing it straight.
Or he dismisses Spike Lee's criticism of Django Unchained (He said at the time that the representation was essentially disrespectful to his ancestors, who were slaves, and were butchered), by claiming that the empowerment of Django makes it ok. (Hint: The empowerment of Django is problematic. Make a game about a school shooting where you play as the kids and everyone escapes safely, or about stopping 9/11 by stabbing the terrorists. It's problematic and downplays the real tragedy for false heroism).
Or his straight up poor response to calling anyone who liked The Expendables (And I hated that movie too) stupid.
I think part of the problem is manner. He, like other such personalities (Jim Sterling (Yes he's being deliberately obnoxious to be amusing), and Penn Jilette for instance), doesn't leave much room for being wrong, or apologising, and rarely engages in any navel gazing, or making sure their views are internally consistent. They tend to put their feet in their mouths I guess. It happens more often the more you talk about stuff you have no idea about, which Bob's had a tendency to do more than once.
