That Jurassic Park game where you played as the dinosaurs and fought eachother Tekken style. I loved that game, it fulfilled the childhood fantasy of a game with animals fighting eachother. Although, my idea at that age was more modern day animals like lions and snakes and elephants, but it was still awesome fun, even if the controls sometimes frustrated me.

A lot of the Star Wars games are very awesome indeed; also can't forget to mention Spiderman 2 and Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. Now that was a visceral game.

Old school Aladdin game on the Genesis, not much too it really but I play the hell outta that game.

Escape from Butcher Bay, imo, is the best game based of a movie.

This may not really count but I think the Kingdom Hearts games have done a amazing job mixing in the Disney movies.
man i loved that Aladdin game and the Lion king one was epic as well and bloody hard.

I enjoyed Spiderman 2, though I hardly think that means much anymore. Was there anyone who didn't enjoy that game?

Here's one that I don't think anyone remembers: Tron 2.0.

It was actually a full sequel to Tron rather than a game based on the original movie (although the original Tron arcade game was actually pretty good) but it was AWESOME and was criminally overlooked when it came out. It had an entertaining story (considerably updated for modern computer technology), interesting but not overdone RPG elements, gorgeous visuals and DISC COMBAT! And LIGHT CYCLES! LIGHT CYCLES!!!

I can't believe it was so badly overlooked. It's a travesty of justice. A travesty I say!

Here's the trailer:

Street Fighter The Movie

It was written and directed by the guy who wrote Die hard...

DIE HARD!

And it has Raul Julia, I'm fucking serious, SF: the movie is one of the most under-rated films of all time as a straight up satirical comedy! I mean casting Jean Calude van Damme as the all-american-hero Guile? Come on, this beat Team America World Police to the punch by 10 years, it is utterly hilarious if you look at it for the humour and just sheer awesomeness aspect.

Raul Julia, man. Fucking Raul Julia.

"I was hoping to meet Guile on the battlefield. One gentleman warrior to another in respectful combat...

... then I would snap his spine"

Awesome.
Dude, backwards, backwards! This thread is about movie-based games, not game-based movies! And while there was a game retroactively based on the Street Fighter movie, it was fucking DREADFUL, unquestionably the worst game ever to bear the name 'Street Fighter'.

I enjoyed the LoTR: Return of the king game (On my PS2). It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either.
Yeah same with me. I had fun on the co-op mode as well.

Oooooohh!

So It would have to be Goldeneye, then. Not particularly for it's gameplay but just it's feel.

I recall the Iron man: the game (based on the movie) being rather good, or at least decent.

Spiderman 2, Blade 2, Scarface and the majority of the XMen games. Also, the LOTR games and the Star Wars games were pretty good.

EDIT - I forgot Goldeneye, the greatest game ever made.

Back in the genesis/SNES era. Many movie games were just great platformers that happened to be based on movies.

I keep bringing these ones up in the situation, but Jurassic Park and The Lion King for the genesis were and still are, AWESOMESAUCE!
I would like to add Aladdin to the list. Yes like you said, it was just a platformer based of the movie, but I had it on my Mega Drive and remember it being very entertaining.

All three The Lord of the Rings games based on the films. Those games are great, and I loved playing multi-player on them.
King Kong.. I like that game, though, have never finished it. I'm about half-way through it. It's pretty good--especially for a movie-game.
