Question: Are you violent?
If you answered no, use that as a case against your oppressive fascist mom. The blood and gore doesn't make you want to go and kill everyone you see.
If you answered yes, maybe she is right.

I have always had my own tv so I never bothered anybody.

My mum, has never had a problem with me or my brother playing or watching anything violent, I watched my first 18 before I was 10 and my brother had completed the first few resident evils before he was 10.

Me and my brother are not violent, anti social or under achievers so violent games and movies don't effect children (or phase us).

Put on porn and when she asks you what the hell your watching tell her she had implied you could watch it at low volume as she said violence was just as bad.

If she has a problem with it tell her she's a hypocrite which she indeed would be.

Make sure she knows you haven't watched a violent film in like 2 weeks, and then tell her you killed a small animal. When she calls you a monster ect. tell her that you had to vent your pent up aggression somehow and that she took away fantasy violence and angry masturbation all in one day.

P.S dont really kill a small animal, just like
P.P.S Seriously don't hurt fluffy.

You can either concur and agree to disagree, or try to sway her opinion with logic. However, people's opinions are usually preset and no amount of logic can change them (see Fox News and Micheal Atkinson on gaming for evidence on this point). I, who pride myself on my ability to win arguments without violence or raised voices, have only managed to do this twice out of about two dozen tries, so I would set too much hope in that though. Always worth a try :)

Why does it bother you that you have to wear headphones? I wear headphones when gaming because my television echos throughout the house and the sound effects are just *bang bang bang!* which are annoying to others, yet crucial to me. And it's not that big a deal. That's just what moms do. They get mad at every little thing and can turn anything you do into a lecture.
i dont have an issue with using headphones, But when you have a really nice sound setup, I would like to make good use of it. so its a little annoying. fortunately i am working hard at getting a room to rent away from home in the next month or so. so it won't really be an issue. but her opinion will stay the same.
So watch movies with violence (so like all of them) when she is not around.

Yea maybe she went a bit overboard with her tirade but hey, shit could always be worse.

Don't ask me how it could be worse, my examples of that are not ones I would ever share, be content with the fact that wearing headphones is a small price to pay.

Yeesh, what's with the "My Mom is a whiny " threads?

Yeah, she doesn't like violence, so that's why I don't watch/play violent stuff around her.

I was playing Legacy of Kain: Defiance once and my mom walked in, watched for a bit and said "don't you be trying any of this"

I'll be sure not to impale anyone, or throw anyone 20 feet into the air with the end of my sword and proceed to jump up and hit back down to the ground, or throw some one across the room with telekinesis.

really mom?

Your simplest solution here is to just watch your movies somewhere where she can't see it, or just when she isn't there. That works for me. I'm sorry if this isn't very helpful.

I once was playing Medal of Honor European Assault and my mom was doing laundry at the time.

She was upset by it and casually said I shouldn't play but she never really seemed to care. I think she's broken. I can't remember the last time she punished me for anything.

I dare you to be watching porn the next time just to prove a point.
If you do so, bring a video camera so we can see it.

says that violence is just as bad as watching porno.
But pornography is great! It's no worse than hentai. I don't see the problem.

Long as it's not CP.

Maybe you can watch it while she's outside of the house. I don't really get people who are up in arms about sex and violence in the media; it's not as though those sorts of things don't happen in real life (okay, maybe not the ninja, but...).
