MovieBob is getting more and more unlikeable each week. He still cannot shut up about Transformers and had a long stint in which he more or less labeled "The Blind Side" as an insidious, subversive Antichrist of films.

Now he's implying that the general population are all idiot sheep. Does he expect me to like him for that? I don't plan to see The Expendables, but I don't begrudge people for wanting to, because it has an awesome premise!
Wait....when did he go off on "The Blind Side"?
Every single time he talked about the Oscars, and in a couple of his written pieces.
Know where i can find them?
Id like to know what he didn't like about it.

Movie Critics are not real people like you and me, if it isnt game changing/Subtitled/watched by no-one then they are not happy.

If you want to go watch it then do, watch his videos and enjoy but dont look to them for actual direction. If the situation was reversed and everyone went and watched Scott Pilgrim and ignored The Expendables he still wouldnt be happy, and he would say that the Sheep have been won over by the marketing campaign for Scott Pilgrim and in their folly have ignored the old school delights of Stallone and his dirty half Dozen

Besides he liked Equilibrium so he clearly gets it wrong sometimes
If I remember correctly he though District 9 was the best summer movie of 2009. As I recall an approximate shitload of people saw that.

I hate it when people say that movie critics opinions don't matter just because it's their job to do so. But instead of saying "critics can't have opinions" they just slap them with stupid stereotypes.

I think i raged at those more than his Expendables review....

Its about a woman who takes in a young man off the streets and pushes him to be the best he can be...
What else is it supposed to be if not Feelgood or Inspiring!?
Was it too Christian for him?

And Sandra Bullock was actually really good in that movie IMO.

I just....gahhh.

Does it honestly really matter that he has a different opinion?
If he insults other peoples taste and choices, to the point of blaming them for the decline of something he likes, then yes, people should at the very least give him a "don't be a douche" look; perhaps even going so far as to be mildly offended? I can't speak for the latter, but if he said these things to me in person i would certainly give him that look.

Its not just his opinion, its his judgement of others thats mildly irritating.

OTHERWISE, his actual comments on the movie itself i totally agree with.
But then why aren't there threads against yahtzee. He insults everyone all the time.
Probably because Yahtzee does it for comedic effect, and most people aren't sure if he actually thinks everyone is stupid. An insult for the purpose of comedy isn't an insult.

The only thing that pissed me off was how ridiculously judgmental MovieBob was. He was a jerk, plain and simple. I don't even want to watch The Expendables, but how he acted still irritated me.

Before I was on the fence on whether or not I should watch Scott Pilgrim. Now, I'm pretty pissed and just considering whether to ignore the movie until a DVD release.

Oh look... it's this thread again.

"The Critic said something mean and now I want to kill his cat", these are always entertaining.

Popcorn anyone?

I imagine a lot of his rage at Expendables also comes from it, in his perception, stealing Scott Pilgrim's thunder. I say "in his perception" because we'll never know for sure if Scott Pilgrim would have done better if it and Expendables were in different weeks/months/whatever. I've never been fond of MovieBob's reviews though, so in all honesty I don't really care if he didn't like Expendables, that will not change my view on it.

We have the Comments section of his video for a reason you know and someone already made this very same thread on the day when the video was released.

Finally, he's a critic. The Critic's opinion has almost always differed from those of the public for multiple reasons. I haven't seen it yet and I really don't plan to. None of the movies interest me right now. Not Love Eat Pray, Not The Expendables and certainly not Scott Pilgrim.

I can understand why he's sad, but insulting everyone who goes to see it is just petty. Most people see the posters for these movies and see this:

The Expendables:
Every action star ever
Action
Explosions
Looks awesome

Scott Pilgrim:
Micheal Cera
Teen-Drama/romance with video game themes.

Thats what I, and many, many others saw. And you surprised that people took the one with every action star rather than the one with that prick Cera.

In my opinion MovieBob was very unprofessional with his review if you're going to attack the movie or the actors in it thats fine they're putting themselves out there for the critics to see. But to attack the movie-going public for actually wanting to see a film that had that many big name action stars in it thats just unprofessional and MovieBob should be ashamed of himself. Its not the publics fault that studios insist on casting Michael Cera in the same role over and over again. Which I admit he didn't play the same role he always does in Scott Pilgrim in fact hes more annoying in Scott Pilgrim. The best part of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World was the soundtrack.

Heres why:
Instead of playing a shy, mumbling doofus who always seems to get the girl even though he so shy and dorky. This time he plays a character who can be described as a hipster douchebag who has little to no redeeming qualities at all. He gets to hang out all the time and play in a band oh man his life is so terrible. Plus hes dating two chicks at once in this movie hes such a douchebag until like the last five minutes and even then. It takes the metaphor you have to fight for what you love to the literal sense with the league of evil exes.
