Bob's a little silly these days, sure, but yikes... as someone else mentioned, if even half that plot and the events he outlined are actually in that film? Then Bob's made me want to see it just to see if it's that moronic and senseless...
And? How does that invalidate any of the criticisms he made about the Amazing Spider-Man 2? Does the movie's plot suddenly make sense now that you know he changed his avatar? Is his out of nowhere, never-established-but-totally-life-long friendship with Harry Osborne less reminiscent of one of Duncan MacLeod's multiple "Oh, we forgot to mention her before now, but here's a chick who was the true love of Duncan's life" girlfriends in a Highlander spin-off movie because Mr. Chipman wrote whatever you assert he wrote on Twitter? Is the universe-building less cynical and soulless because years after the fact, he celebrated that a movie studio which generally makes good movies can make a movie of a character he likes?Samtemdo8 said:Not only did he change his avatar, he also made a post about it.
I can't find the exact Twitter post, but basically he just wrote a description of him laughing in maniacal glee that Spider-Man is now part of the MCU.
Yeah and now because of our encouragement he goes overboard and it's not funny anymore.undeadsuitor said:Honestly, weren't Moviebob's long winded nonsensical whiny rants his most popular videos when he was here?
OK let me clear the air.JimB said:And? How does that invalidate any of the criticisms he made about the Amazing Spider-Man 2? How many of his reviews of Marvel movies have you watched? Like, I have his review of Age of Ultron up in my next tab. He has plenty of criticisms for it: the characters don't grow or change because Avengers movies are just there to be cool rather than meaningful; the universe-building is blatant; there's too much action; the villain is too similar to the previous villain and his plan makes no sense. By what measure do you call that "blind?"Samtemdo8 said:I was saying that I honestly think that Moviebob is a blind fanboy to the Disney Marvel brand.
Judging from how that part of the book was written I think he takes his escapism WAY too seriously.MarsAtlas said:Isn't that just basic escapist fantasy? You know, the very thing that most people here do? The thing that this site is named for, that escapism?Ihateregistering1 said:I never read it, but apparently his "Super Mario Bros 3" book had parts where he talked about his childhood, and how he would fantasize about living in the Mushroom Kingdom, and would hide in his car playing Gameboy so he didn't have to interact with his family.
Those are more or less of the same criticism he said about BvS and yet he did not tore Avengers 2 a new asshole.JimB said:How many of his reviews of Marvel movies have you watched? No, not really. That's not what the review says. It says Zack Snyder uses poor photographic techniques that make the male characters look ridiculous. He did not say anything about the actors or their bodies.Samtemdo8 said:Like that comment of basically mocking the body structure of the actors playing Batman and Superman, really?
Then that leads me back to the question I asked at the beginning of the post: How many of his reviews of Marvel movies have you watched? Because that complaint only makes sense if you completely divorce the criticisms from context of issues like frequency and severity of occurrences and whether the films have good points in their favor to balance out or overwhelm the negative points.Samtemdo8 said:Those are more or less the same criticisms he said about Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, yet he did not tear Avengers 2 a new asshole.JimB said:How many of his reviews of Marvel movies have you watched? 1. I have seen many clips of these 2 characters in trailers and so far I have not thought there was ANYTHING wrong with their bodies that would make it look ridiculous.JimB said:No, not really. Guys, I get that you dislike Moviebob, but at this point you're really coming off as unfair to him as you accuse him of being to movies.

Okay, I guess. He disagrees, and personally, I'm apt to take the word of someone who's seen the movie over the word of someone who's seen clips. I personally think the visual designs are pretty crap myself, though Batman's costume isn't bad. At least it's not made of blue raspberry-flavored Twizzlers.Samtemdo8 said:I have seen many clips of these two characters in trailers and so far I have not thought there was anything wrong with their bodies that would make it look ridiculous.
Then I think you ought to refamiliarize yourself, because you are misrepresenting his stance in order to justify your own.Samtemdo8 said:It's been awhile since I have seen his old reviews of the previous Marvel movies.
He says in later reviews he went too easy on it. I disagree, though, because I like that movie more than I like Iron Man. What can I say? Character is the most important thing of a story for me, and I had a blast with all the characters in Iron Man 2.Samtemdo8 said:But from what I can remember he was very forgiving of Iron Man 2 even though its universally considered the weakest Marvel movie of the lot.
I feel like you're assigning that single line undue weight at the expense of the tone of the entire review.inu-kun said:Considering he says "Holy shit. Now that I've actually said it out loud I hate this goddamn thing even more." I see it more hate than depression.
Uh...he's a movie critic. Making videos about bad movies is his job. It's literally his job.inu-kun said:If a film was bad live with it rather than make video (though I think it was two) as if it's the worse thing that ever happened.
