Aliens although technically you need to watch the start of Alien 3 to see how they win at the end of Aliens.

"Brazil". Although I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't yet seen it. It's a fantastic film, extraordinarily dystopian movie from Terry Gilliam. Think Monty Python meets 1984, gets drunk and they go for a curry with Blade Runner.
I'm sold! I'm renting that as soon as possible.

Arlington Road - Bad guys are terrorists and they trick the good guy into setting off a bomb and then frame him for it. The movie ends with the bad guys adopting the good guy's kid who believes that his dad is a terrorist.

Just glanced across my DVD collection, and I'll add "Ju-on" to the list. I haven't seen the US remake as "The Grudge", but

that's a movie where nothing but bad happens pretty much all the way through.

Oh God, how could I forget Pulse?

By journey's end:

Many, many people are erased from existence and/or converted into the malicious ghosts seen in the movie, the collective Big Bad can't be erased from the computer system because it is the system, people can't live in cities anymore ever, and cell phones and Internet connections no longer exist, or rather, they can't ever be used.

Talk about a Downer Ending.

Debatable. The guy wanted to end up dead, but he couldn't exactly revel in his success...

Mine - No country for old men: which is also debatable since Chigurh doesn't get to kill the main character, some Mexicans do instead leaving him a bit unfulfilled...

Debatable, true, however as you say he wanted to end up dead so in that respect he did 'win' by Brad Pitt's character (I forget the name)becoming wrath :)

I'd say the villain didn't win in the Usual Suspects. He went through all that trouble to make sure a witness didn't identify him. Instead he ended up giving the police his mugshot. True, he managed to escape, but he still failed his original goal. Once his photo is plastered over every newspaper, it's going to be harder to due business.

In silence of the lambs a villain escapes and continues to murder people.

True, but the extent of his criminal empire combined with the fact that no one TRULY knows if Kaiser Soze exists let alone trust the police to actually get a picture of the guy leads me to believe that business would remain fruitful regardless.

The know he exists now and have his photo and a police sketch. Kaiser's number one advantage just went out the window. Now he has to go into hiding to avoid being assassinated by a rival mobster or arrested by the police.

Agreed. Brazil is a classic case of an evil wins movie.

I dunno, if
he snapped and they can't get through to him anymore, did they really win?

I'd discuss this further, but I don't know how to make spoiler boxes.
