Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
Sideways
The Village (This movie marks the transition between Groundbreaking Shamylan and Desperate Shamylan in my opinion)
If you're gonna try and make a fancy statement, learn how to spell first; it's Shyamalan. I reckon the reason a lot of people don't like The Village is simply because it was marketed in the wrong way. It was made to look like a horror in all of it's upcoming trailers which attracted the wrong sort of crowd. It's actually more of a love story with a very interesting backdrop, and personally I thought it was great.

Getting back to the topic, I'd have to say Dodgeball. Everyone kept saying how hilarious it was so I picked it up in a sale for £3. I just thought it was unwitty, obvious comedy that more annoyed me at times than made me laugh. I took it back to get my £3 back the next day...

I just watched Blade Runner at last after I heard it was supposed to be some kind of Sci-Fi cult classic and I was thoroughly bored all the way through. Fair enough it had an interesting theme, examining what is really classed as humanity and mortality, but it was just a total snooze-fest. From the plot synopsis I was expecting a little more action and a little less nothing happening. Definitely the worst Ridley Scott film I've seen.
I don't think that it was boring, but I don't think it's the epic that everyone else seems to.
It's problematic if you watch it *now* because we're used to a lot different style of movie.

Don't worry I can see your point though.

For me it was The Dark Knight. Everyone ranted and raved about it for so long I walked in expecting the second coming of christ.

*wanders off looking for something*

Here:

Batman begins was great. Definitely the best character play of Alfred I?ve ever seen, and the way Gordon is executed was both compelling and made me mildly sympathetic to the cause (you?ll note that I haven?t mentioned the star himself).

So what of the second movie?

Maggie plays the girlfriend far better than Katie ever did, probably because she didn?t try to fill K?s shoes, and because she wasn?t Katie (and thus generating a bucket load of media hype over what is otherwise a minor role).

As Nick said, the hype machine grabbed onto Heath?s death. Don?t get me wrong it was sad to see him go and he certainly did make a compelling role. But (there?s always a ?but? with me) I feel the hype surrounding this actually killed the movie for me. It?s like the gamer-hype about Duke Nukem Forever. The amount of hype this movie generated left me going in thinking it was going to cure cancer, discover the secret to immortality, and literally blow my socks off in the seats.

It did none of these.

Batman was his usual lispy self and I really felt the whole ?dark knight? aspect of the movie was under played. I wanted to see him ready to join the joker, to wreak havoc on the hypocritical ham-beasts in the precinct, and there was nothing like this.

The Joker was a severe disappointment. Sure he pulled off evil, and I have to agree with Nick when he says he was the best joker ever, but as good as the Godfather Part 2? Never. And what of these cretin?s suggesting the Joker was the new Hannibal Lecter?! Not only did this come across as complete and utter crap, Heath?s performance was nowhere near as intriguing, or absorbing, as Sir Anthony Hopkins (although while we?re on the topic of biased I?m a huge Hannibal fan).

The final bit for me, and one that I?m rather mixed on, is the SFX in this movie. They actually ARE special. That scene with the truck being blown up and flipping rear over front? Real. That was an actual truck and left me with a real WOW feeling, which was completely ruined by the ?bat-bike? which, like the batmobile, felt out of character with the comics. Batman is a gadget geek sure, but he?s also a high tech gadget geek. He doesn?t drive a tank! He drives a tricked out two door sports car with more awesome in it than? well? anything.

Movie gets a one out of me. I expected so much more from it and all I got was a supreme feeling of ?eh?. If you?re a hard core fan, definitely check it out. The rest of you? well that?s just up to you isn?t it.

Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels was a good movie, but it wasn't nearly as good as everyone seems to think. I liked Snatch a lot more.

lets see harry potter 1-5 were atrocities mainly 3-5 1 and two were ok.
Lets not forget star wars 1,2 and 3.
Finally there is anything made after scary movie two with the same name or a rip off of the name (date movie, epic movie and the apply named disaster movie to name a few).

I usually don't dislike a movie enough to complain about it, but M. Night Shamalayanamanaman really let me down with "The Happening." I liked the village, so I just thought people were being hard on him again. Boy was I wrong.

Drake the Dragonheart

The All-American Dragon.

well harry potter just in general, book or movie, is an atrocity, and you are spot on about anything after scary movie, and you would think that Lucas would get the hint that the newer star wars trilogy was horrible, and stop trying to either milk and/or revive it!

No need to be a dick, so I misspelled Shamalamadingdong's name, it's not the end of the world. And I do agree with you about Dodgeball, that movie was completely overrated, I saw it in the theatre, I wish I could have gotten my money back.

What do you guys think about Semi-Pro, some of my friends think it's great, I haven't seen it yet and I'm not as excited to see Will Ferrell in another ridiculous wig as some people may be.

- The Transformers movie (the 2007 one, not the awesome one from 1987)
- Napoleon Dynamite
- Star Wars: The Clone Wars (the reviewer who said that it was the movie "Star Wars fans have been waiting to see" should be tortured, Guantanimo Bay style).
