A Clockwork Orange.
Actually I feel I definitely didn't have to see that movie... but I can't unwatch it now...

For me...

Knowing...

yes the one with Nicolas Cage...

IT MUST NOT BE REPEATED, WATCHING IT IS LIKE TEACHING PEOPLE ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST, WE CAN'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN.

A little background. I work at a cinema, and during a slow patch the staff all sat down for a cup of coffee. We started talking about the new James Bond movie being put on hold, and the trainee projectionist said he had never seen any of the James Bond movies. I was taken aback by this as they are such a large (in popularity and number of iterations)franchise and he works at a cinema. Pressing him further it turns out he had never seen the Godfather, Pulp Fiction, The Matrix, Blade Runner, or A Clockwork Orange.

So I ask you, Escapists, what films, if any, do you think everyone needs to see?
From all those movies I've only seen The Matrix.
You've never seen a James Bond film?

Oldboy.

It's probably just because it's my movie of the month, but damn it, Oldboy is fucking awesome and must be watched!
I agree with that statement. The story of Oh-Dea-Su must be watched by more people.

EDIT:I have to add that most people have to watch Tropa De Elite.A Brazilian film from 2007.It's fucking awesome.

You should have seen the goonies, the sandlot and princess bride while you were growing up otherwise your childhood was deprived. You should also see The Room just because of how hilariously bad it is.

I love how people are trying to put obscure films like "I think everyone should see Pandora's Box, which is a 1929 German silent film starring Louise Brooks, one of history's first flappers."

I think everyone should see Slumdog Millionaire. I thought it was even better than the Hurt Locker and I loved the Hurt Locker.

The first two? They only made two, I don't know what you're talking about.

I LOVE THAT MOVIE AND NOW LOVE YOU.

I think everyone should watch at least one Quentim Tarrentino movie.
At least one.

Dark Knight, Star Wars, Blade Runner, Alien(s), The Matrix, and at least one or two of the James Bond films.
Hm.
I guess Children of Men should go up there as well.

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Just because the argument 'comic book movies are stupid' is something I hear way too often.
Ugh, you thought Dark Knight and BB were intelligent movies? Man...The only good part of Dark Knight was Heath Ledger as the joker. You want to see an intelligent comic book movie? Go watch Watchmen, it makes the new batman movies look like they were written by a five year old. I'm not kidding.
Anyways, 1.Watchmen 2.The Labyrinth 3.Mallrats 4.Clerks 5. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
yea, that's all i can think of atm...

The Watchmen movie wasn't that great.
And yes, I read the book.
Repeatedly.
Obsessively.

It's just Watchmen wasn't really meant to be a film. The movie was made for the fans who had read the book. With Batman, it's all neatly explained in the film itself, so you're not wondering why something in the film is even there.
Both were good movies, but when it came to the actual film, The Dark Knight beat out Watchmen.
Comic book wise, Watchmen beats the stuffing out of Batman. Continuously.
