Nokturnal Mortum.

They're amazing songwriters and excellent musicians. Case in point...

The problem? They're a NSBM band. I can't even imagine the reactions of the people I know IRL if they discovered that I listen to something like that.

Also, I should really say that everyone who knows me IRL is already fully aware of my taste in music so I've got little to be embarrassed about otherwise.

While not technically artists, I'm saying the Vocaloids. I have over 5 hours total of their music.

They aren't artists because Vocaloids are vocal synthesizer computer programs, and all of "their" songs are songs made by people who purchased the software and........ oh find out for yourselves.

I don't think I have anything that I am ashamed to admit I like, but some bands I have do turn a few heads, especially Hevisaurus, which I think was posted about on the Escapist a few months ago, and that's what got me into them.

Thanks, Escapist!

Dude, My Bloody Valentine are fucking awesome, apart from the name. But bands I'm ashamed of would have to be Paramore, Blind Guardian (they're pretty cool but unbelievably cheesy) and some dubstep too (most dubstep fans are complete wankers). I'm not even that ashamed I listen to them though, they're just the furthest out from what I'm usually in to.

There's so much dumb in that post I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

On topic:

I own 2 Girls Aloud albums.

I just love those fucking fuzzy-ass synths!

Their very good, shoudnt be ashamed.

Myself:

Guns N Roses.
Rammstein.
Children Of Bodom.
What's embarrassing about those? Admittedly, Axl Rose is a douche, but the old GNR was awesome!

I don't have any embarrassing ones. I'm proud of everything I listen to, and that includes pirate metal.

Oh, ye of liitle faith.

Oh ye be unknowledgeable that there is no Pirate Music Theory to create a pirate metal genre.

Its power metal with a pirate image.
Theyplay metal, and sing about pirates, so logically they're pirate metal.
Lyrics dont make the genre.
I say pirate metal is a genre. Although there are only like 2 bands in the genre (that I know of) they do sound pretty different from usual power metal, and the lyrics do contribute to.

No, but band image, vocal style and instrumentation do. There's also another "pirate metal" band called swashbuckle. They actually play thrash metal not power metal, but apart from that, they share all the same traits as Alestorm. Logically to me, that makes them pirate metal. What's gonna be denied next, viking metal? Sheesh.

Most of my friends know I listen to classic rock (Pink Floyd, The Eagles, ect...) But this band is for some reason just amazing.

MGMT.
I'm sorry, but "Electric Feel" and "Kids" are way too catchy.
I also quite like Robbie William's music.
And yes, I'm a guy.
(Thank god I don't personally know anyone on these forums.)

the closest thing i have is lady gaga. I should be ashamed but i am not.

A talented pianist
A thoughtful and crative lyrcist
And one hell of a singer.

She's miles better and miles more talented then any other artist that people compare to her.
Such as, Kesha, christina agulara, britney spears, or rihanna. I would go as far as to say she is the most visionary, engaging and talented female pop artist that has ever seen showbuissness. Greater then even cher or madonna of earlier years.

Of course alot of music snobs would tell me that can't be true.

Not ashamed, but if I were the type to care what people thought about music, well... I'd say my Disney fanaticism would make them giggle meanly.
And I can't get this out of my head.
Not that Disney is really an "Artist", but it's a known grouping, right?
