Yes, it's called popular music because it is music made to sell £££££. As it turns out, most people prefer to listen to music that is catchy, fairly simple and easy to relate too.

I don't hold that against them, if you like simple music then fair enough. It's annoying though that you carn't simply turn on the radio and hear songs you like.

Near me there's a "Metal" station, but it only plays ballads from bands that are more hard rock anyway. In the mornings they'll play classic stuff, Metallica etc.

They do have some funny faked commercials though...

Occasionally I'll hear somebody moaning about some slut called Lady Gaga, but that's about it.

Simple answer:
This is the music that sells.
All the fandom in the world won't help your favourite band/artist get to the charts if you're just going to download their music for free.
You have to BUY IT and the fact is, most of the so called fans of niche music don't do that.
The "majority of the populus" might be listening to crap but they buy that crap from time to time.

That's my opinion.
