Well...not really. There is a shitload of people who listen to lady Gaga simply because she is on MTV or The Voice or whatever, not because they find the music amazing. Same thing with a shitload of people wearing a certain brand of clothes because its popular. This has little to do with taste and a lot to do with trends. So, you are wrong in that rewording of yours.

And yes, this annoys me too...but I choose to see it like this:

OT: If the majority listens to some garbage/wears some stupid clothes that means MY interests in music/clothes/whatever will be less polluted by crap.

Pfft, I like Lady Gaga because the song's catchy and doesn't require much thinking. Its just 'nice' to listen to when you're doing other shit, IE: Work, which many of you don't seem to take into account when you say you don't have to listen to the radio. Which is fine, I guess my job is just different. Anyway I don't know about you but radio music, isn't something I listen to intently, I have my Ipod or computer for that kind of music, its there to be casually listened to. Also, its easy to dance to (not for me because I'm a godawful dancer).

PS: Call me a sheep and I'll have to challenge your definition of yourself.

Because the people who have listened to say metal and hard rock for a long time don't tend to buy singles, they tend to buy the albums instead. That's why bands like Iron Maiden slaughter the album charts.

Upon asking a female friend what kind of music shes into she replied "I just like stuff I can shake my ass to". Seems appropriate, I don't think the majority of people want much out of music.
