I can appreciate that, hell there are times I've found myself singing songs and wondering where the fuck I've heard it. Popular music is catchy (kinda like an STI). But you have to admit, every new artist is usually come into popularity with a catch, such as having their song feature another popular artist or having assosciation with a popular artist.arc1991 said:Mmmm i'd say it's different for some, I here quite a few songs on the radio that i hate (Tinie Tempah...I'm looking at you!), but i do admit that the popular artists are played a hell of alot more.Azure-Supernova said:While the point is valid that screaming is pretty unpopular with the general public, popular music is less of what 'catches the public's attention' and more of what Popular Artist X, Y and Z decide to release next. It gets played on the radion, the public is exposed to it and they listen to it enough to like it.arc1991 said:If a song catches the public's attention it get's in the charts, Roaring into the microphone like a retarded Tyrannosaurus-Rex is never going to get anyone in the charts...well...not for a while anyway.
That would be the 'at first I hated Lady GaGa's new song, but it's grown on me' feeling would be.
Saying this, I do hear the ocassional song on the radio I like, the most recent one being a Vampire Weekend song which caught my attention.
