Like a large amount of posters before me, I dislike Rap and Hip hop et al. I also happen to dislike both Country and Reggae of all genres. I still don't get why nu-metal is so hated these days, though. I love the genre.

I dont really like to announce blanket hate for whole genres... I feel like if I tried hard enough I could find something to like in any genre.

So how about this. I love metal, pretty much anything that complex/progressive/power/symphonic I enjoy at least somewhat. I even like a little thrash/death/etc. But for the life of me I can't enjoy Metallica or Nightwish. I like some of their songs, sure. But I've listened to their entire works, really TRIED to like them, and I just find there's far too many songs where I can't listen to them all the way through. Metallica is so samey, their work has never really impressed me. I don't see why they're so 'great' although I understand why they're so popular.

Nightwish... so many of their songs are umm... just... I almost want to say generic? But thats not what I mean... I just can't rock out/ get into like more than half of their discography. I like some songs like umm... maybe dark chest of wonders or like crownless? But they have so many songs that just don't do it for me.

I feel like for both these bands about 90% of their fans only listen to like 8 of their songs over and over and think they're the shit. I tried to really get into them but they just don't have the lasting appeal of similar-esque bands that I listen to. I'd rather listen to Epica or After Forever any day over Nightwish, and do I even need to mention Megadeth?

Anyways that's my piece. There's a large chance I'm just a crazy individual who knows nothing about 'music', and that clearly 'popular == good', but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I don't think that's case.

What about early rap. You know Run D.M.C., Biggie Smalls, and all them other rappers?

OT: I don't like country that much but I'll sit through it if I have to. Otherwise modern rap makes me grit my teeth.

I would shoot myself rather than listen to an hour of techno. I won't acknowledge it as a genre of music.

Rap? Only the 80s-90s, and only Dr Dre... and yeah. Maybe few Eminem songs, but those funnier ones.

I also hate most of the pop songs and screamo.

Songs with no attempt to sing in tune or in a song like fashion, which is alot of rap, even though I like good rap, and screamo which is, as the name suggests, screaming.

I don't really like to think in genres. If I like a song or an artist, then I like them.

...Though, I'll let you know when I hear a screamo band that I enjoy. /:

Like everyone else, I can't stand rap or country. There are a couple good rap songs I like, usually if they have a good beat, don't have the generic gangster lifestyle lyrics, and incorporate things like orchestras alongside the beats. But for the most part, it's just embarassing to listen to most rap songs nowadays.

Also don't like metal, heavy metal, or even death metal. Just can't stand the constant onslaught of guitar and yelling, etc. There are 1 or two metal songs I like, because they're instrumental (no vocals) and hit the perfect tone of evil.

I know everyone will find me crazy for saying this, but I love 80's pop. I love the cheesy synthesizer instruments, and the drums. They're seriously awesome.

Smooth jazz, a good deal of recent hip-hop (if it can even be called that), and the overwhelming majority of pop music. I'm gonna have to add screamo too. Nothing's wrong with screaming in your music (I'm a huge fan of bands like Dillinger Escape Plan, Neurosis, Isis, and Norma Jean), but they're doing it wrong.

It's mediocre and tolerable. Better than this modern day rap. However I will still stand by my choice of any form of rock over rap.

I can't stand mainstream rap. Every time I hear Soulja Boy, 50 or Wayne I try to blow the person's speakers up with my mind.
