Music in games... What's your favorite song?

As far as being memorable, the music from the first three Sonic games on the ol' Genesis still sticks with me to this day, to where I can hum the tunes of almost all the levels.

For composition, any music by Nobuo Uematsu is absolutely fantastic.

And for setting the mood, I found Mass Effect's music to do the job quite well, I loved the feel of it, enough to buy the soundtrack. I usually don't buy soundtracks, either.

My favorite game song? That'd be Kimi no Kioku by Yumi Kawamura. It's the ending song to Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3.

That being said other games that I think have awesome soundtracks include: Fallout 3, Persona 4, Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Vesperia, Blazblue: Calamity Trigger, Disgaea 2, .hack//G.U. and Final Fantasy IX.

Hands down my favorite video game song of all time is Portal's Cake song. It was the greatest ending to a video game I have ever experienced.

This gets my vote as well. My ringtone is that song. However my text messaging alert is "Please note that we have added a consequence for failure. Any contact with the chamber floor will results in an unsatisfactory mark on your official testing record. Followed by death. Good luck". So maybe I'm biased.

But if you want a serious game. Mortal Kombat's music is pretty goddamn catchy most of the time.

I liked the mix of the Elder Scrolls theme a lot more in Oblivion. My pulse still quickens a little in that game when the music shifts to "something's spotted you and it's attacking!" and I'm trying to figure out where the bad guys are coming from before they reach me. Morrowind's good, but Oblivion's just a nudge better.

Still, my all-time favorite musical piece in a game is "Aria di Mezzo Carattere" from Final Fantasy VI.

I had to go to the hospital after every session so they could pry my balls from the nether regions of my scrotum.
