The Quake 2 soundtrack done by Sonicmayhem is a great one.

S & M live is also a great one to listen to whilst playing. Flip side of the coin is listening to something like Martin Harley or Jacques Loussier while playing.

Though the in-game music for Half-Life 2 is the best ever it just can't bear the mighty punch from the Fallout 3 intro theme. Before that, Halo's theme was considered but Fallout 3's intro has the word 'epic' written all over it.

I love Braid's soundtrack, it's one of the best soundtracks to a game ever, but possibly not my favourite. My favourite track from it is Lullaby Set:


If you asked me to give you my absolute number 1 favourite track from any game ever, I'd have to give you a top 10, or 20... or 100...

Basically anything Michael Giacchino touched. The Medal of Honor games, the first Call of Duty, and the first Mercenaries game spring to mind.

The Total War game have amazing soundtracks too, but I especially love the songs at the end credits (sadly absent from Empire for some reason)

I don't think of music in games that much, not enough to remember them anyway. But Halo's theme song is awesome, and "Still Alive" from Portal is really good.
Oh, and the victory music from Final Fantasy is hilarious, especially when used IRL.
