Music is an important part of any entertainment experience. Would Jaws be as creepy without those heart-pounding orchestral notes? Would F.E.A.R. be as scary if I replaced its ambient music with Nickelback or Slipknot? Would HALO kick as much @$$ without those wicked guitar chords leading you on?
The answer for these questions is simple: no. No, no, no. So, I ask you, the Escapist community, to let everyone know what your favorite music track in any videogame is. Give us the name, and why you like it.
I'll start:
I'm a Playstation fanboy, and I don't have much patience for Halo, thinking that its gameplay is not up to standard with other titles. (You rarely use cover, there's no iron sights, and ever since that awesome pistol in the first game has never returned, I've been heartbroken). I enjoyed the first Halo immensely, but I have said before: a game by innovation born, a game by innovation sustained.
That said, there is one thing that I think gives HALO a trump card over every other game on earth: the world's best guitar cords. Nothing makes me feel like the ultimate bad @$$ than hearing those awesome cords pick up as I charge into a fight to crack a few skulls.
Despite my PS3 devotion, I give my vote to HALO for the world's most kick-@$$ soundtrack, and no game will ever come close.
Now it's your turn.
