Music = Lyrics?

no music is not lyrics and lyrics are not music. however lyrics are a part of music.

if you take rap and remove the lyrics, you get some ripped off jazz musician for the most part, if you remove the music from rap you get poetry done in rhyming couplets. rap is really made with the combination of the both. tho without the music and just lyrics rap is what is known as doing the 9's and was around for a long time in the ghetto and where freestyle rap got it's start

now with rock and it's various forms, if you remove the lyrics you still have music, whether it's good is another story. if you remove the music, you get spoken word poetry, although you can sing it and it stays as music.

so really lyrics can be music but for the most part it's not, unless you can sing it
