but your opinion doesn't count. because anyone who thinks rap is as good musically as some metal bands today or from any period of time should be shot in the face repeatedly.
Eugh, I listen to nearly every single genre of music
Yeah and most metal is complete and utter shite, which alot of rap is too, which alot of all music is too
Music is more easy to get into these days because any idiot can make music with no talent, this means there is alot of shit in all music genres
Not just rap, rap just gets called out more
Also just because someone has a different taste does not mean their opinion is invalid

Any moron can rap.
Ohh I am calling you on that.

If any moron can rap, then naturally someone of decent intelligence, such as yourself, can produce something of quality.

The complex rhyming schemes, the metaphors, the breathing patterns.. Not to mention producing the backing music.
He's lying. But it's certainly easier to rap than to play a Dream Theater solo.

Not sure, I hate Metallica so I never bothered to listen to them to the point of paying attention to lyrics.
Also, you guys started this whole "OMG YOU DON'T LIKE RAP!?" thing, I didn't.
If you remember, I made one very small comment and you guys started this "argument."
And how come every time someone disagrees with someone else, the word Troll is thrown around?
If I am being troll, than you are as guilty as I am. Also, by the amount of typos you made, I can tell your typo too fast and clearly not thinking before you type.
It looks to me like you just want to get the last word in, and you most likely will.
This is both boring and annoying, people have varying opinions in the music world, get over it.
They inspired most metal bands today though so most bands in metal are influenced by lyrics that don't make sense
No someone else don't, the way you say it makes it seem like we are a single hive mind
Someone else started it and you started saying shit and I called you out on it
No you're not a troll because you disagree, it's becuse you called anyone with a different opinion an idiot.
No I just have a really shitty keyboard and it would be expensive to get it repaired
No I don't care about the last word, I hate bullshit opinions like anyone can rap.
Yeah and thats a problem you seem to have, you can't accept that other peoples styles may be difficult or atleast a challenge
Can't you see that you are being a little bit of a hypocrite
When the main musicians of your genre aren't 50 cent and Eminem, then people will start to respect the skill it takes to rap well.

rap gets called out more because from a musical standpoint it's non existent. I'll agree that all music genres are cranking out some absolute garbage. oh and no not everyone's opinions are valid...

Eminem has some good stuff but I completely agree about 50 cent, there is not a single song that was ever good
Except for candy shop because it basicly made a porno...*cough*
still shit though

....Ever heard of rythem? Fitting lyrics? keeping the beat?
Seriously the close mindedness of musical tastes on here is amazing

Look I'm tired of fighting against people who cannot be bothered to find any good out of rap
Seriously most people who like rap probably look at metal in a similar way, saying it has no talent
Most lyrics do suck but listen to Eminem - Mockingbird
Or Hollywood undead - Young
and finally Rage Against The Machine - Killing in the name of
Now if you tell me you don't like them then you will never like any form or rap, if you do then you might find some you like, like I have

A lot of great music, doesn't always have lyrics. If there's something to be told through words, then lyrics are worth adding in, but if the music is terrible, then they fall short. Both need to be symbiotic in order to make a song good, which is why I hate rap; it's 80's music remixed with a group of guys echoing each other as they talk quickly and primarily about the ghetto, drugs and butt sex.

I've heard it, wasn't impressed.
Easy as fuck.
I'll make a remake of marry had a little lamb if you want?
Okay so you say Rap used to be good, I produce you a good piece of Rap from this decade that isn't full of swearing and about smacking bitches up or smoking weed and you say you don't like it. Me thinks you're a troll or you nolstagia is making you say bull
Go on then, make a rap piece. Impress me with you dazzling rap abilities which you seem to claim everyone has
Oh and yeah ignore the rest of my post because you have no response
But he's a metalhead and cannot possibly produce rap. How dare you ask him to stoop to the level of common radio fare! (Sarcasm, by the way)

Rap is tough to do well, just like playing a guitar/drums/whatever is tough. He's just trolling for an argument, and he got one.
Well I like metal too but I just cannot understand the arguement that anyone can make metal
Ugh I hope he gets ylled at by the mods but thanks for making me realise I am still sane
I never claimed it was easy to write a metal song, but I did say that ANY genre of music requires talent to do well, so I was just hoping he'd stop flaming and being a jerk.

...we need a definition of "poetry".

(dictionary definitions just won't get to the heart of the matter)
While we're at it, let's also define "music" or "pornography" (not to seem snarky at you, WayOutThere)
These things may be hard to define but I don't see why they would be impossible to define.

I'm a writer, I write poetry among other stuff. But I think that the poetry they used to is usually bullshit. I mean seriously, there are very few really good intelligent lyricists out there. These kids therefore never really had to think about what they were listening to, even the back of the minds didn't have to dwell on it past "oh right, it's about bitches, drugs, a breakup, being in'the hood', etc etc". usually the only good lyrics in music are by comedy acts who employ music as a backup to intelligent and witty poetry.

I'm not going to adress any issues raised in this thread, I'm just going to say SHUT THE FUCK UP with the constant hip hop bashing. Srsly I hate metal but I don't constantly start threads about it.

Okay, I'm getting pretty frustrated with the "Hip Hop lyrics are shit" thing

I will once again point you towards Buck 65 (between Man Overboard and Secret House), Sage Francis and Bike for Three! These are my favorite Hip Hop artists and for good reason.

Please don't listen to a 50cent song and hear "When you sell like Eminem, and the hoes they wanna fuck But homie ain't nothing change ho's down, G's up" then assume ALL HIP-HOP EVER is shit.

Lyrics are important, but so are the instruments.
without one,the other may falter, like poetry, although there are some music genres that don't really require lyrics like some techno, but then there are the genres that require lyrics to be good like most metal.

If they don't like poetry, then they don't.quit insulting their music just because you don't like what they think.
