Everytime I ask someone if they listen to their music they stare at me like I sopke an alien language.

Most of mine, people seem to know.
However, I have a fair amount of Imogen Heap's songs on my mp3 player, and there are very few who even know who she is. :S

Not only do I know who she is, but I smoked a joint with her when she rolled through my city a while back. I LOVE working the stage at small music venues. Yay union stage gigs!

I've got a lot of stuff nobody's heard of, but that's because its mostly old 80's alternative and industrial. Basically I listen to the bands that artists like Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson listened to while they were growing up- er, getting older. (Lets face it, neither of them really "grew up" and neither did I.)

Bad Brains, Operation Ivy, Black Flag, Husker Du, The Flaming Lips, My Bloody Valentine, Pavement, Sonic Youth, even the Talking Heads - nobody I know has heard of these bands (or, if they've heard of them, they've never listened to any of their stuff). However, to be honest, I'm not huge at seeking out the most obscure bands possible. All the bands I've sited are quite underground, but they're critically acclaimed in their respective genres or have attained "cult" status. I'm of the opinion that if something is really good, odds are someone else has recognized this and shared this with the world.

B.B. Evolution is the greatest song ever. I'm not sure how you came across it, but I was a fan of the online flash game "FFR" for a while, and that's how I found it. Fucking sweet. I'll have to admit though I'm not cool enough to know any of the other songs you sited =(

Virtually all of it. I'm educating one of my college friends with regards to metal, but the others are haven't heard of any of the bands I listen to even outside of that genre.

I thought that Alex Gaudino was pretty famous..? Quite a few people i know know his music, and it wouldn't have been weird to hear that song in clubs a couple of years back.

Umm, I used to listen to quite a few heavy metal bands n stuff that no one had heard of whilst i was at school, but no one really listened to metal at my school so that was a given, Now I listen to a lot of electro stuff which I am sure quite a few people have heard of, but I do randomly come across people on occasion who haven't heard of Justice or Deadmau5 yet.
