I usually love some of the anime music I hear without understanding any of it, particularly the opening and credit songs. I even put some of the FMA:B intros on my Ipod to listen to.

Hmm, non-English music eh?

I've always had a soft spot for Asmegin. (folk-metal)

Then there's always Jean-Luc De Meyer's french rendition of one of his C-Tec songs. (EBM)

Also, just because I love me some awesome bagpipe music, have some Tanzwut. (metal~industrial)

And last but not least, I can't post this without including at least one of the bands I like that speak a language I actually understand, so have some Dulce Liquido! I say it counts because the only way I actually understand what he's saying is by looking up the lyrics. :< (industrial)

PS: Nice to see Oomph! and Korpiklaani getting some love.

Sure, there's quite a bit of great music in languages I don't understand. :p

Let's see...

That's actually Swedish, but I'll let it slide this time. Just don't do the same mistake again, especially if your talking to a Finn. We tend to get pretty anal about getting mixed with Sweden. ;)

Besides the obvious Japanese songs from anime and video games?

I've taken a liking to Icelandic, French, and Russian songs as of late. Ulrich Schnauss has been a favorite for a very long time, yet I don't speak a word of German.

Saeglopur by Sigor Ros, in Icelandic.

I used to listen to a lot of Rammstein. Still like some of their older stuff.

I have a few German bands where most of their music is in English, but they do the occasional song in German.

I also like some Anime Intro and Outro music, but have never really gotten into Japanese music in general.

No idea what's about (something about the wind) but it works for me.
It's about how memories fade after a while. Well that's my interpretation of it. It's one of my favourite songs as well. Did you know the lead singer had to go to prison because he killed a someone ?

O.T Rammstein basically :p. Los is just awesome

Off the top of my head, X-Japan would come to mind - most of their lyrics are in Japanese.

Two of my favorite bands sing in French and Spanish respectively;<youtube=ihC7Yg7o3tM>
Though I do have some basic understanding Spanish, so maybe they don't count?

Also Rammstein because being predictable is fun!

I quite enjoy engrish music that you hear in anime openings and endings. And localised JRPG soundtracks.

A friend of mine who was studying German, once asked me to listen to Soylent Green in the hope that I could catch some more of the lyrics / samples and explain to her the connections. This was based mainly on my being one of the few people at the time who owned a copy of Sehnsucht by Rammstein. I strained my ears but couldn't really make much out and, honestly, my German was pretty rudimentary anyway. It wasn't til she told me the title of the song that I was able to turn around and say "Oh, well that explains everything. It's about food made out of people. Because of the film." Which she'd never heard of.

More directly on topic... yep, Rammstein. Also Blutengel and Eisbrecher, some early KMFDM that's in German and this more recent one that's in Russian.

And as someone else mentioned, some of the Russian stuff off of the GTA IV soundtrack, specifically;

And I couldn't possibly leave this thread without first leaving this behind...

...gotta love those crazy Slovenians.

Rammstein and early Dimmu Borgir. German and Nynorsk respectively. I don't understand a word but I love it regardless.
