smoke on the water's intro is easy, but if you try to play the whole song it gets far more complex.

mine would have to be Fade to Black by Metallica. its not really an easy song, but for some reason the chord progressions came very easily to me. it might have been because its one of the few songs that i haven't self-taught also.

Nah, play it with the bass line at the same time. It makes it a slight bit more difficult.

Any song? Have you tried playing some of the stuff off In Utero? While it's not overly difficult, they are not the 'easiest' songs I've learnt to play.
