Yeah, both my dad and I are on the TSA terrorist watchlist, not because of anything we've ever actually done, but because our last name, Johnson, happens to be shared by a known terrorist. That means that every time I try to fly anywhere, the airport runs extra checks on me because of my name. Some would take offense to this name based profiling. Not me though, I think it's fucking hilarious.
Your story reminds me of a story I read off of Cracked.com, of a 5 year old child being barred from going on a plane because he shared the exact same name as a man off the FBI's most wanted list.

Hey, well, you never would suspect a baby would you? That's how they get ya.

As wrong as it is, you can't really blame them. No one wants what happened on 9/11 or various other terrorist attacks to happen again. Even though I can't really say this since I'm not muslim, you guys should just get over it.
So arresting every black person because they don't want gang shootings is awwwwrrriight too?
Even though I have no right to say this, that's something that everyone capable of wielding a gun can do. The United States are at war with various factions that happen to be Muslims. Of course their gonna be weary if someone shows up.

Its not right, but what else are they gonna do? Would you rather hundreds of people lose their lives then you just being inconvenienced for what, like a couple of minutes? Also, I'm not a double standard. If there were black people committing of bombing and police officers and security guards decided to hold me up, I would say the exact same thing in my post. I'll be pissed at it, but at least I'll keep my word.
Well, to be arrested or confronted by the police you need to have actually done something other than be born the wrong colour, because when you single out a certain group of people, it only creates more tension, which only feeds the problem rather than solving it.

Just because you don't KNOW your dad is a terrorist, doesn't mean he isn't. I suggest you do your civic duty and keep a closer watch on your dark skinned relatives. That uncle of yours sounds very suspicious.

This morning, for the 2nd time in the past few months, the police officer that lives on my street has visited my house due to a report of suspicious activity. This has happened a total of 3 times, with the other time involving my dad's brother.

I realize the reason my father is so 'suspicious' is because of his dark skin. He has a very dark Italian skin color that could be mistaken for Middle Eastern, and my uncle's is even darker.

And this get's me thinking; how many times do people with dark skin or Middle Eastern appearance get reported based solely upon their looks? I'm sure it must be a lot, as I feel 3 is a lot of times, considering my dad's not even Middle Eastern.

Anything like this ever happen to you/someone you know/a relative?
I think its obvious what the problem is...

You live near white people.

Maybe the next time the cops come your dad can file a racial discrimination complaint or something. I don't know if that is possible but its pretty ridiculous that you live somewhere that skin color gets the cops called. If I were your dad I would sit in the garage with the door open and mess with some electronic equipment. Make sure you have a soldering gun so it looks like he is making bombs or something. Then when the cops are assuredly called you can show the cop he is just fixing a microwave or something.
thats almost as bad as making a bomb joke at customs. They'll arrest you for it anyway.
What if you got a white guy nearby to do the same thing?

Care to explain or are we to take that as it is?

Yes it happens a lot because being "middle-eastern" is the flavour of the month... not the flavour of the month you want to buy, more the flavour of the month you want to discriminate against based on its colour. Thats right, shockingly enough not all middle-eastern people are terrorists... I know, I know. I will give you some time to clean up your mind chunks from that mind explosion just now...

All better? Good. Yes thats right, fear sells and after 9/11 fear has a shiny new package in the form of "muslims"... all of them, not just the small percentage that want to blow themselves to pieces.

Thats right, we as "morally superior" citizens of developed western countries have judged muslims based on their criminals and mad men... and as you cant really tell who is a muslim just by looking at them we have decided it is much easier to just hedge our bets with anyone not quite black but certainly not white.

So kids, if you want to avoid the current discrimination trend do what the ginger kids have been doing for years and wear sun block... the highest factor you can get your hands on because being discriminated against doesnt feel nice... especially considering that you arent even middle-eastern(!)

It's not just Muslims, Latinos and Blacks are profiled everyday.
As far as I'm concerned setting a precedent that the fourth amendment can be ignored if a certain color person halfway around the world dislikes your government is a greater danger to our nation than terrorism will ever be.

My dad's not a terrorist either!

I'm getting kind of pissed at your story. Fuckin' idiotic people reporting a lawful citizen because of skin color. damn. Racist fucks. I can understand officials doing it at airports but just around the house? Bleh.
