I know that you brilliant people aren't going to lose any sleep over this news and I don't expect you to, but I like to think that this is my home on the internet. The place I visit more than anywhere else and the community I spend the most time with.

So I'd like to use my little part of the internet to pay my respects to a friend.

Rest in peace Rosie, you were a great dog.

I'm sorry that this is the best picture I could find of you, but it's rather hilarious.

I'll see you on the other side.

Feel free to share your own pet related stories.

Sorry to hear man. I hope you're OK as can be *Internet hug*

I don't like Animals, myself, but know they're a massive part of peoples lives. Literally part of the family.

I did used to have a pet Tarantula with my ex, but I let him keep it when we finished the relationship as, well, I wasn't fussed about it like him.

I did get to name her Angela, though!

Sucks, man. I've lost a lot of animals in the past. Cats, dogs, horses, alpacas; it never gets any easier.

Also, I just clicked the spinning button. I am typing this upside down; tripping balls.

You were warned not to push the button.

Some people are just too curious for their own good.

May I ask what killed her?

Regardless, you have my condolences.
Thanks.

I'm not really sure.

She looked like she was losing control of the left side of her body, the vet said it could have been a slipped disk or a trapped nerve or a tumour in her spine.

The only way to find out was for her to have an MRI, which would have cost £1,000, and then a further £2,000 if she needed an operation.

She was old (around 16 years old) and I doubt an operation would have really improved her standard of life.

She had a good run.

My own dog died several days/a week ago. She probably got hit by car in a highway. Still haven't seen her...or what's left of her (apparently not much), and I don't think I want to. She was something around 11 or 12 years old.

It's not as terrible as it was when I lost another dog 8 or 9 years ago, but I'm still gonna miss her. Still got 2 dogs left though, so it's not all bad, I guess.

I made a thread very much like this in September [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.312228-Farewell-A-thread-about-pet-deaths-and-the-celebration-of-life#12639989] for the exact same reason.

*hugs*

Doesn't feel good. Sorry to hear about Rosie's passing.

EDIT: Hopefully fixed the link. It was giving me a 404 when I checked the thread again.

Sorry to hear that bud.

I had an albino mouse once. Crawled into a toilet roll tube and died. At least I think it was a mouse...I was young at the time.

While its very sad when a pet dies, I find it even sadder when they are kept alive in obvious misery. Last year we had to put down my spaniel whos been with us since I was born. Eventually he went blind deaf and arthritic. But 20 years is a very good run.

It always sucks and never gets easier, but our lives are richer for having known them.

Dogs don't judge, they're never selfish, they just love.

Pure, unconditional love.

I am sorry to hear it fella! Losing a pet sucks! And you have my sincerest sympathies!

The only experience I have had was with hamsters. I had a hamster who was on her last legs, and we came downstairs in the morning to find her dead one day. It was a cold day as it was winter, so Mum placed her in an old wooly hat to keep her body warm, and then put her on the radiator as we were going out for the morning.

We came back in later that morning, and were going to bury her and she was GONE!! We looked everywhere, but she had disapeared! We looked and looked and finally gave up, we thought she would turn up when we least expected it!

Well... Later that day, when we were eating dinner there she was! Climbing out the front of the intergrated freezer! Turned out the warm radiator had revived her, and she had jumped down and found refuge in a cubby hole on the front of the freezer, where it was nice and warm! (Hard to explain the hole, I think it was pretty much a product of where the cupboard door attached to the intergrated appliance had an over hang!)

The same thing happened a few weeks later! It was really quite strange! She had died twice, and then ressurected.

She died finally a few weeks after that... And so came the end of little Lara the hamster! (It was 1997 when we got her... she was most definately named after Lara Croft! :p)

The price we pay for that love is having our hearts broken in the end. I grieved my dogs death for a period of 2 weeks. Today I have a tiny stuffed animal that looks like him in my car. I pet it when I'm feeling down and I remember the good times.

Animals are amazing.

Jeez... well my condolences daystar. In my short lifetime I've had to go through two dog's deaths. I hope you had some fun with her before she passed away. I have a new one now, only two years old and things have been okay. Anyway I know you must be going through some hard times but just remember that things always get better eventually.

My condolences, mate. My dog died when I was in grade 6 after having her for 6 years. Coincidently, her name was Rosie too.
Again, sorry for your loss.

Thanks man.

This is the death of my second dog, the first was around 1998.

My third dog is on her lonesome now, but I can see a new puppy coming into the house in the future.

I love dogs, the years you spend with them are well worth the heart break.

Our first family dog, a Jack Russel, died in 2007 it was the saddest I'd ever been for a while because we'd had him since I was a baby. He had a liver problem that led to one of his lungs being crushed by his liver and he died of organ failure. He was 14 years old so he lived a good long life for a dog, and I'm glad he died at home instead of being put to sleep at the vet which we were planning on doing the next day. Since then we got two Miniture Schnauzers who are very nice and 3 and 4 years old respectively, so they still have a lot of time.

My condolences, by the way.
