Aaaaaaahhhhhh...
Anonymous.

Scourge, yet saviour of the Internet.
I really think that if he pissed them off, he really wasn't thinking that plan over much.
Seriously ,they are dangerous fuckers.

My brother is on 4chan, and was reading the Anonymous speech, and just responded with a really confused '...The fuck?!'

But I'm with them.
Well, at least their harmless pranks and anti-Scientology stuff.
And I own one of heir masks.

And also, I am not part of 4chan, Anonymous or *shudder* /b/.

I'd actually say call the police.

This seems to be a serious case of cyber harassment, which, hopefully, can be tracked down with the help of the good old 999.

It seems pretty unlikely to me that anyone for 4chan would actually recognise your friend in public. They may hack, shop images, and so on, but the chances are no one even remembers his name anymore, much less actively tries to hunt him down. Anonymous isn't an all pervading hivemind with an agent in every street, each issued with a hitlist and carefully gathered intel.

Fuck it. Seriously they're a bunch of trolls. The only thing worse than getting pushed around, is getting pushed around by a bunch of internet nerds. Tell to grow some balls and fight back or continue hiding under a rock until his skin goes pasty and he starts drinking his own urine.

I remember my friend who had his house egged for almost a whole year on a regular basis. Afterward me and him spent every weekend in the dark across the street waiting for the car to come by... we waited 3 months. Then they came, we sprung from the bushes and smashed the shit out of their car - they thought they were so tough but those bastards were frozen in their seats for a good 10 seconds while we smashed the windows and as they drove away I threw my hammer at their rear window and caused a massive crack. We never saw them again after that. Sometimes it's just a matter of pride.

Oh and does anyone know that old saying in the military community that anyone who claims to be ex-SAS (might apply to other special forces branches, but SAS is the one I've heard), isn't?

Same goes for Anonymous. The vast majority are posers who can't do a damn thing to you.

He shouldn't be scared. The worst thing they can do is hurt you mentally (which seems they've done quite the job well done).

But it's not like they're going to bother buying a bus/air plane ticket and fly directly to your house for a good beating. Than it's THEY who lose...

Just tell him to stay away from the computer for the next 2 months. It'll be good.

Im quie suprised, the anonymous I learned to know is usualy far to lazy to go this far, even if they are capable.

What are some of these measures that you could take to Anon proof your computer?
1) Standard internet safety measures: Avoid opening email attachments unless you know what they are, have a good anti-virus/firewall system, if at all possible be running NoScript on your browser, be smart about going to links etc.

2) Set up/go through a proxy server whenever you browse the internet. This will hide your IP address behind some random server, so they'll be unable to get any info that way. It doesn't make the information impossible to get, but it does make it significantly more difficult. (If you really want to hide it, route through a proxy inside a proxy inside a proxy, etc)

3) Monitor your internet traffic. There's ways to check who/what is currently connected to your computer through the internet (though I'm drawing a blank on how to do it right now). If something looks suspicious, kill it immediately.

There's a few more, but these are by far the most effective, though the only guaranteed way to ensure no one ever gets access to your computer is to never connect it to the internet. Any security measure can be broken with enough patience and skill, but if you're smart about it you can make it such a pain in the ass that it won't be really worth the effort.

I'm not sure what you can do besides just be there for him.........i doubt that they will attack him again as long as he does not insult them. If it was me i would fight back, no group should be able to get away with this i mean he just made a caual insult i say take the battle to them TO WAR MY BROTHERS TO WAR
Fixed the red for you, it needs to be
Code:
[ color=whatever you want ][/color]
but without the spaces.

O.T. Don't fuck with them and there is no reason to fear them, your friend is an idiot. I like the saying "My enemies enemy is my friend." anon will fuck with anyone that annoys them, and most of the time they will be annoying you too, so just sit back and watch the spectacle.

It seems that from what they have done so far is that they are trying to scare him, and its working.

If they were going to do anything bad, they would have done it right away.

run > cmd > netstat -b. The -b part shows what program it's using.

I'm sure there is a program that does this for you but I've never bothered finding one.
Edit: Windows Defender maybe does it, only used it on a computer I was fixing though.

I love how when it is Islamic fundamentalists sending threats over mild criticism of something they hold important, us free-speech typed get all worked up and protest by taking things further, yet when it's a criticism of a group on the internet everyone's like "turn the other cheek" and "you shouldn't have messed with them!".

I guess it's official - 4chan holds more respect than God. What are we coming to...

This basically summarizes the entire reason why. Some people are just dicks when they know they can get away with it.

Anonymous don't bomb people. We do not like being bombed. They usually single out their enemies rather than go for an all-encompasser.

Plus, I'd say one of the main reasons is that Anonymous, being anonymous, is harder to reach than Islamic fundamentalists.
