Congratulations. You are wrong.

Homosexuality was declassified as a mental illness in the field of psychiatry 30 years ago:

Why's that? It could be a behavior designed to enforce dominance or an inbuilt mechanism to curb over-population.

Even if a committee of doctors feels the need to be politically correct it doesn't change the fact that not being attracted to your sexually compatible gender is abnormal. In psychology having an abnormal mental condition is insanity.

I agree it is.
By that standard, focusing on women alone could be considered insane as well.
That's what I've always said. We're all insane.

Slightly more serious:
Personally, I never quite understood homophobia completely. I have no idea what possible threat a homosexual can pose that other people can't. I have never been able to take homophobics seriously, even less so when they go around proudly announcing they hate gays. I mean, wtf? o_O

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that most homophobes are repressed. Be it by family, religion, culture or whatever, they're repressed.
They've got some strand of sexuality and they decided the best way to pretend they're "normal" is to hate that part of themselves, and, others by extension.

You are aware that 90% of the escapists are pro-gay? and that they are all here?

if it was mental sickness i strongly doubt they would stil function in socioty as well as they do
Here in Norway it was actually considered a mental illnes until 1972, you could actually get locked up in the locked area in a mental hospital for being homosexual, I am glad things have changed! I got alot gay friends and I would hate to not beeing able to talk to them becouse they would be locked away

If he admitted it that means he can deal with the problem
If he made offensive comments about them then there's a problem

It is nothing to do with being politically correct. Actually try reading the link I gave you, properly. The doctor himself said specifically that there had never been any scientific evidence to point out that homosexuality was a mental illness.

Your definition of insanity is far too strict. You seem to imply that any kind of deviance equates to insanity, which would be a hilarious overstatment. There is simply no one who doesn't deviate in some way, be it in sexual orientation, religious views, political views, even behaviour in a certain circumstance. Therefore, deviation is paradoxically normal, leaving the whole function of the term "insanity" to break down.

You have to be more flexible with your terminology or it will not hold up against any proper semantical argument. In this case, you should use "insanity" only to refer to a state in which a person no longer functions as a part of society. Homosexuality is not crippling in those terms.

Yes, exactly. Thus my "wtf": It seems so obvious that this is why they do that "I hate gays"-thing. Bah, it frustrates me >.<

This, I did not know. I only thought it was illegal to be gay in Norway up until then, not that it was seen as a mental illness o_O

My friend recently told me that he is prejudice against gay people, we have openly gay students at our school. give me your commentary on this.
honestly he can think whatever he want. there's no obligation to love homosexual. But acting on those thoughts are another matter.

i used to think that homosexuality was a very bad thing, and that it was a dirty and sick thing...
