I have a prejudice against homosexuals too.

At least that's what I'm told because I view it as a form of insanity (it fits the definition).
if it was mental sickness i strongly doubt they would stil function in socioty as well as they do
There are many mental illnesses that don't necessarily create socially dysfunctional or dangerous people.

Strange... that is what they say about Sweettoth in Twisted Metal. And me on a bad day.

Ike! edit quickly my friend least the ban hammer strike quickly.

Eh I have prejudice we all do whether we admit it our not. Just some groups are more acceptable to be prejudice towards. So to each their own, as long as you don't trample on the rights of the individual i don't care what people believe

Tell him he is a douche who can't wrap his head around acceptance, and the fact that its the 21st century, and that stuff like gay people are normal. It would suck if they were heterophobic. Imagine that...
well thats not the point of tolerace.
he doesnt have to ACCEPT their life style.
but he cant force them to change it.
he has to TOLERATE them.
and as long as he doesnt act out on it its his own opinion and he has a right to have one.
even tho i dont agree with him its his right.

he said they are wrong and disgusting and defective
Did he say that they should be denied equal rights because of their sexuality? If not, it's just an opinion and nothing more.
yes, yes he did
Any reasons as to why? Find out what his reasoning is and point out any errors you see.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I think people should just respect that. If he dislikes gay people, he has every right to, just as long as he doesn't do anything stupid like beat a gay person up just because he is gay. The it gets bad.

I think the best thing to do would be to make sure he just keeps it to himself.

I wouldn't recommend getting involved unless he does something that could result in someone getting hurt.

That kind of depends on a lot of things, people can be prejeduced against some group of people without being raging homophobes or racists or whatever. If the dude said it in a way that was pretty clearly "I hate gays" or something, that's a different story.
he said they are wrong and disgusting and defective
Okay, yeah, that's pretty bad. Well, I think it is anyway, the guy is entitled to his opinion, be it ever so fucked up from my POV. At the end of the day it's your choice if him holding those views is enough to get in the way of your friendship.

How strong is this prejudice? If it's just a slight prejudice to gay people and he just doesn't like them, but wouldn't kill them or anything, then let him have his opinion.

If, however, it's a really strong prejudice that he wants to kill every homosexual in existence or something similar, slap him across the face and tell him to learn tolerance in the dictionary.

While I don't really care if a person is gay or not, I WILL be bothered by those homosexuals that just have to parade their gayness everywhere they go. Like homosexuality is a cool trend that needs to be displayed all the time.
While gay marriage is just fine, adoption isn't. They can provide a loving, stable home and all, but it's just... not right for the kid. "Um, which one of you is my mommy?"

I'd stay friends with him, but any time he makes any remark whatsoever against homosexuals give him notice that it ain't cool. If he's giving off signs of being homophobic, tell him to just chill the fuck out. Its hard to change, but its better that friends help those people get into the 21st century than have them get into a group of friends who all share the same hatred by rejecting them. That's how groups like the KKK and gangs of Neo-Nazis get started.
Personally I'd be just as inclined to do what is above and give the guy a smack to tell him "grow the fuck up" but integration is a better method of not fucking up a friendship.
