My life is boring and meaningless. Suggest a hobby.

I am open to your suggestions, even the more bizarre ones I'm sure I'll receive.

My current hobbies consist primarily of playing the drums and music, and I'm looking to branch out. Variety is the spice of life, after all.
Well, what sorts of things are you into and where abouts do you live?

Personally I'd always recommend a sport since it makes many people feel more fulfilled at the end of the day. I read somewhere you've done jujitsu, you could consider doing another martial-art in the meanwhile? If not, finding freerunners to run/climb with is essentially free and groups are often a lot more common than you'd expect.

Cooking is always a useful one, but sometimes it's a hassle to do boring food you're well acquainted with - you could choose a certain region and try to specialise in that type of food.

I'm the type of person who hates not having something to do, so I'm currently trying to learn another language. There are quite a few websites out there which are completely free where you can meet people trying to learn English who will be happy to teach you some of their language in return.

Basically, give us a list of things you'd like to do/have done and we'll try find things similar.

Lets see, for me I usually just write short stories when I'm bored but I don't expect everyone to do that. One thing I could suggest is to try and do a project of some kind, for me I am working on adding things to my avatar. I am currently up to 50 possible deaths and I want to get to 100 and I have to say that it takes up a good amount of time :p
Suggestion for a death: Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch'd to death

OT: Umm... maybe carpenting? You can make some nice stuff, maybe make some money as well. And, it's super manly. Harrison Ford was a carpenter.

Learn how to survive in all weather conditions with no outside help! (Seriously, that stuff suck while you're doing it, but afterwords makes you feel like the biggest badass on the planet, and is extremely rewarding. Plus it gets you laid.)
How, exactly? Doesn't seem like something that gets you laid...

OT: Airfix.

A very underrated hobby is laying puzzles. It is more fun than it seems.

Start buying NERF guns, get some friends together, and shoot the living hell out of each other.

I restore cars, and practise(albeit not as often as I used to) a martial art, also tech work for family could be considered a hobby, but I would consider that closer to community service.

Either of those hobbies might be fun for you, car restoration is especially fun, if you do all the work yourself it doesn't cost THAT much either...

Not while you're doing it (surviving, that is). In fact, everything sucks while you're doing it, and you want nothing more than to go home to a warm bed and pile of cheese puffs and beer. But it requires a high level of physical fitness, mental stamina, and a little bit of crazy mixed in there for good measure. Women (in my experience) like that mix, especially the fitness part.

By the way, that's a pretty sweet plane. It looks like it's build to exact specs, is it?

Video games :3 This is a video game web site, after all. I think that suggestion comes by default.

And if you need any cheaper hobbies, try reading (public libraries are amazing), writing, or look for tutorials on how to do stuff like play an instrument or learn a new language. Also, probably a bit random, but amateur voice acting might be good if you'd like to act and have a decent microphone. I can suggest a web site if you'd like to give that a try :3
I don't know about OP, but I would certainly like to hear about that.

OT: something nerdy like warhammer is great for stealing all your time and money.

I confess to not being the intended recipient of that last, but what is said site? Sorry for potential eavesdropping/ blatant stealing of ideas, but it sounds like something I'd enjoy.

Was gonna suggest learn an instruement D: got ninja'd by the OP...

Could always pick up another one? Learn piano or guitar (or bass, or violin orrr accordion?) and start composing your own shiz.
I picked up bass, it now takes up at least 5 hours of every day ^ ^ girls love a bassist too (;
In fact, I recommend the bass. You should already have a good sense of rhythm from drumming, so you're ahead. Ignore the usual boring walking bass and chord progressions; throw in some tapping or sweeps or harmonics or slap and it's a goddamn cool instrument, way more interesting than most people seem to think.

Another creative field could be a good idea too. Write stories, draw, paint etc.

Manly craftsmanship! That is to say, take up an actual skill. My reccos:

- Auto shop (if you've got a car)
- Computer science (actual hardware stuff)
- Carpentry (Good enough for Chinese emperors, good enough for you)
- Marksmanship (mad expensive but wholesome fun, just don't go wild for rangefinders and stuff)
- Music (Learn to play an instrument - best for a fairly obscure one, like the balalaika)
- Cycling (get in shape + enjoy the outdoors)
- Cooking (Male, female, straight or gay - all potential romantic partners appreciate someone who can cook. Plus, delicious food)
- Get really good at shaving (for men only, but once you ditch the safety razors, there's a real art to it)

What's the common theme of all of these? Actually making something, that is to say, engaging in some activity with an actual, tangible product at the end, is an amazing self-esteem booster. I took wood shop in college, and the one good thing I made - this rinky-dink little folding stool - I still love it. Every time I look at it, I think, 'goddamnit, I made this thing, and it works, and it's good, and nobody can take that away from me.'

Oh, I didn't build this, I just found it to illustrate my point. But to answer your question, I don't know how big airfix is outside of Britain, but here it's pretty famous for the detail.

As for your survivalist thing, I'm training for the Royal Marines, so I guess I'll get around to that eventually.
