Ask people for a anime that has a horrible ending, not like depressing, just one so bad you'll be happy its over.

Might I suggest Neon Genesis Evangelion, and ignore the movie that made up for the last two episodes.
What aboot the End of Evangelion movie that was pretty epic.
That was the movie I was telling him to ignore.
You mean you didn't like the mass evas go against Asuka's eva? o_O because i thought the scene and musiv were beautiful but its okay.
My I hope you didn't just ruin the movie for me.

OT : Really that's why I like anime so much. Besides the fact that they're unique in comparison to what you'll find on TV here in the West, the characters are usually so likable.

For example, Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, a certain incident with Satoko... I was not pleased. I was angry. I really did like Satoko.

With some series, I agree. You've watched ones with pretty well fleshed out characters, and it's hard to leave them at the end.
I had the same problem with Azumanga Daioh, to the point that I didn't want to finish, and had it unfinished on my list for over a year. If you think about it though, that's really a good thing, not a problem.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I was depressed for almost a week, after I finished watching Lucky Star.

They're always about awkward, insecure highschool students who are trying to prove they aren't awkward or insecure.

We get it guys! Do something else!

I can relate strongly to the topic creator. I was ready to assume when I saw the title that he disliked anime for some brain-dead reason, but instead, I found a poignant issue to relate to him on.

He's also picked some good ones... the ending of Azumanga Daioh almost made me cry...

Hell, I'm only 6 episodes into Darker than Black and it made me tear up.

I also get this way with games, ha ha

I feel the same way you do, I become sad that it's over just because most anime I watch does a great job of pulling me into the story, when it's over I go what? That's it? What happens later in their life? Come on give me more! >.<

I was really sad when K-On and Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl ended. :(

There are times when I hate reaching the end of an episode, because I want it to keep going.

Reaching the end of an anime is bittersweet. It's the end and the resolution of the series, but I will never see new adventures of these characters.

Not really, actually. Clannad is a romantic comedy (that, again, is guaranteed to make the tears flow; I cannot recommend it highly enough), so not much similarity there. Orphen is fantasy, but is a bit more mature. I have to admit, the main reason I love anime is because Japan understands that good stories can be told well through animation. Outside of Pixar, Avatar, and some recent Dreamworks films, America really doesn't get that.

Full Metal Alchemist is similar in that it involves children in a fantasy world, but it's much more bloody and mature. Same goes for Naruto (though some of the humor in the first bit is less than mature).

And yeah, not mentioning Avatar is a good job on your part. Simply because "anime" is the term for Japanese animation. Avatar is American. Thus, not anime. But it's similar enough to act as a good bridge (it did the same for me).

If you want an anime like Avatar, I recommend seeking out Digimon Tamers. It's the third season of Digimon, and it is very similar in tone. It can be kind of silly near the beginning, but eventually matures beyond what you would expect (again, like Avatar; that show got intense later on). Just watch it with subtitles, for the love of everything that is good. In fact, that goes for most of these recommendations, especially Naruto. Holy crap that English dub is terrible.
First off, I wanna say BELIEVE IT!

Oh my God why did I do that? Have you ever played a Naruto game? He says that way too damn much. Just makes you want to punch him. Or play as a less annoying character to have them punch him in the face. Repeatedly.

Interesting facts about Avatar. I've seen it on anime sites. So, it is definately popular in that regard. Also, they have announced a follow up series that should be released next year. It will follow the next Avatar named Korra, a teenage girl from the Southern Water Tribe. Apparently it will be centered in one city and she will have to learn air bending from Aang and Katara's son while dealing with an anti-bender sentiment in the city. Sounds interesting.

Manga.

Manga is the answer to many of life's problems.
I love manga. It's how I avoid some really terrible filler. Also, there are some series that don't have anime versions. Always nice to see the original work and vision, too.

I'm the same way. I always feel sad when I know the series is going to end soon. Anime shows always seem to be way more in depth with plot and character development than our shows, and they do a great job in making you care about the characters. I just recently did a marathon through Elfen Lied, When They Cry, and Utawaromano, and while When They Cry was fascinating on its own terms, Elfen Lied and Utawaromano had tear jerker moments that hit me hard, yet I was really sad when they were all over :(

While I do share the same problem, I wouldn't have it any other way. Any show that can make you feel this way after it's over is obviously a really good show.

I have sorta the same experience. Finishing an anime is always bittersweet, yes, but never in a way that keeps me from wanting to see it. This also happens with other forms of media to me, particularly books and video games.

This feeling is really just confirmation that the anime did its job: It reached you.

So watch longer anime? You'll probably like the long Shounen animes that often go way above 100 episodes.
It's not going to make me stop watching Anime. And I prefer shorter anime anyway, I tried watching Bleach and by the 70th Episode I was almost bored of it. Although that was my first anime ever so I could try going back...
I see. Well then yeah, that's natural I guess. I find that, by the end of most series, I don't want there to be any more though.

I advise you not to restart Bleach, though. Plot is just pulled out of the ass in it.
To be fair the anime of bleach had alot of BS added to it (leading to the in-jokes "Are they STILL in the society?!" or "Are they STILL doing the bount saga?"). The bount saga aswell was an annoying and overly-long addition. I recommend reading the manga.

Of course, you could always watch Yu-Gi-Oh Trolloloolollolol >:D

I think Inuyahsa has something like 400+ episodes.

I felt that way about Cowboy Bebop, Speed Grapher, Witchblade(mainly cause i didnt like the ending, that was sad), and FLCL among others. So I get what you mean, but you have to ask yourself, "Would the show be better if they continued it, or is it a (near) perfect ending now?" Cause I know the answer to Cowboy Bebop would be yes, it ended there and is good it did.

I fet the same with Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and Black Lagoon. Black Lagoon was probably the worst tho, since it just seemed like something was happening with Revy and Rock's relationship.

I know the feeling. I haven't felt it in a while though. Probably because I have started watching a lot of anime, and am starting to get used to shows ending. K-ON ending was a pretty heavy blow though.

And since this is an anime-thread: Watch Clannad

I prefer the Animes that are 'slice of life' Like Azumangah Diao I recommend giving "Genshiken" a go.
