Animal Farm is a banned book? That's disgusting.
Alright everybody. We're going on a magical journey called clicking the given link and actually reading what the webpage says [http://www.adlerbooks.com/banned.html].

When we do so, we can clearly see that the page says (repeat after me)

[HEADING=2]
Books Banned At One Time or Another in the The United States[/HEADING].

Not, "these books are banned and anyone caught reading them will be subjected to punishment", it's just a list of books that at one point or another were banned.

Also, for the most part it's not a federal government ban, more like Soccer Moms got together and got the book banned from their library/school curriculum.
I just said it's disgusting that it's banned. And it is banned at that particular school. Which I find disgusting. You don't have to be patronising and rude about it.
The point is, none of the books on that list are banned anymore. Animal Farm, for instance, was banned like 65 years ago. You can buy it in any bookstore.

It is still banned in that school, which is still disgusting. My point still stands, and he/she was still rude/patronising/condescending.

And funny how you decided to call her a "*****". If there was a guy on youtube voice his opinion in a similar tone, I get the feeling you wouldn't call him a "*****".
He probably would have called this hypothetical guy an "asshole" or something. Don't read too far into it.

decided that all males who hate twilight hate it for these reason.
She didn't say anything like that. You're stramanning her.
The video is titled "The Real Reason Guys Should Hate Twilight", implying all guys, meaning males.

It opens by saying "I Just want to clear up a little confusion with the guys about the right reasons and the wrong reasons to hate twilight."

It's interesting to note, at no time in the video, does she mention women should hate twilight for these reasons, with the implication women wouldn't think these things. If the video were, instead, "the real reason people should hate twilight" there would be no problem. However, the video explicitly calls out males, and keeps a focused view on males.

How one presents their argument is often just as important as the argument itself.

Yeah, that's what they said about my Generation and Harry Potter, the thing is.... I read animal farm because I saw a play of it, I read Tom Sawyer because my mother had read Huck Finn to me as a bedtime story a number of years prior, so for me at least HP had very little to do with why I read, it was just another story.

2 things though..... Twilight too sexy? Duhhhh? Okay... And personally, I REALLY REALLY had a hard time getting through To Kill A Mocking Bird. I just did not like that book.

But that may have been because I had to read it for school. I loved Merchant of Venice the 5 times I saw it performed live, and when I saw it at the movie theater but when I had to read it for school... UGGG...........

Just wait until she gets to Naked Lunch. It's going to be hilarious, believe me.
Naked Lunch, still a better love story than twilight.
For that matter The lord of the Flies is also a better love story then Twilight.

Animal Farm is on the banned book list? That's weird. Here in the UK it's one of the books on the syllabus for English literature.

The banned book list includes all books that have been banned anywhere at any time in the US for any reason.
No books have ever been banned in the United States under the real meaning of the word banned. They have had legislation to not carry them in public libraries and public schools however. Which is not so much a ban unless you want to consider 99% of books to be banned simply because the school doesn't make you read them.

More likely than not however a 'ban' on a product in the US is when no manufacturers want to make it(and not even that a state legislature says lets not have it in libraries/schools.) For example(one I'm making up because I don't know the specifics) if no one wants to print Huckleberry Finn because they figure the message of it means that no one will buy it, most lists consider the book to have been banned, which is untrue. Mark Twain could have hand written copies and sold them, because outright banning books violates the constitution.

Which is why you wouldn't find Mein Kampf on such a list of 'banned' books. Because while I'm pretty sure I've never seen a case of it being taught in public schools and I doubt most libraries have it. It will likely be published for hundreds or thousands of years(depending on the occurrence of a rapture or zombie apocalypse.) Because there will always be small printing companies with money for printing presses and the desire to spread an ideology. And there will be Skinheads and Neo Nazis who will buy it.

Wait, To Kill A Mockingbird is one of these banned books? My English class is going to read it this year. Something has gone wrong in wherever OP lives.

That must be the only list to contain both 'THe Anarchist's Cookbook' and 'Captain Underpants.'

Yeah, I have to agree with you. Twilight might be bad, but if it gets people reading, then eventually they'll read books that aren't bad.

We all start reading somewhere. The first books I got into were Goosebumps novels. They were pretty awful, looking back now. But I was, what, 8 years old. I didn't know any better. Nowadays, I read mostly history and non-fiction. I just finished reading "The Dead Hand" by David E. Hoffmann - it's about the end of the Cold War and it's absolutely fascinating.

I don't really care what people read, as long as it isn't Mein Kampf - don't get me wrong, I wouldn't ban Mein Kampf, but it's a bad book and you shouldn't read it, unless you want to know exactly how crazy Hitler was. As long as you read something, as long as you get the habit of reading down, then you'll eventually find wonderful books.

From that list I've read; The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Scarlet Letter, and To Kill A Mockingbird.

All of those I believe still are required reading from my high school.

But yeah, good job

No, she is explaining this to men, but that doesn't mean it does not apply to women. Neglecting to include a group does not mean you want them to take something totally different from your words. If that were true, every time somebody speaks, they'll have to spend several minutes explaining to which people it applies or not. For example, if that were true, now I'll have to say that this works the same way not only for you or that woman but also for me, all males and all females, as well as any other gender one decides to count. Which is redundant.

Saying "This is about group X" does not automatically imply "But it doesn't for group Not X". Unless you phrase it correctly, that is, and the correct phrasing to get that is "It applies to only group X".
