my mom who by the way spends 1/4 of her life playing bejewled and majhong online against other people said it was a waste of time. I gave the bioshock excuse and how games can surpass movies through emersion. kinda blocked off communication after that wonder why

I always got the "Square eyes, rotted brain" crap, I didn't get many super creative ones, although I did often get "You don't sleep enough"(Ten damn hours every night, I'm just tired. -.-) and "I'll make you violent!" among other things like robbing away my nonexistant social life(outside of the internet, that is. I've got more good friends there than in real life.)

...So, yeah.

I like how my parents got me into gaming. Seriously, I didn't even know what an N64 was when I got one for Christmas. They got it to help with my fine motor skills, it helped a bunch actually. They even played Mario Kart when I went to bed. Seriously, those sneaky bastards played my game when I had to go to bed early (awesome!).

same here, except it was a SNES and instead of mario cart it was Super Mario World.... and I was around a year old. My parents would play it and I would watch. Once I finaly learned how to play three to four years later there was no stoping me.

Having recently had very serious eye troubles I asked many professionals. They all assure me unless you sit 5 inches away from a plasma screen for 18+ a day, you're not at risk.
