N. Korea Threatens USA

I doubt they qualify as a real world threat, but they've proven they want to become one. Eventually they will develop missles with better aiming and range and we should not let that come to be. although, while everyone in the world has a mutual enemy the west has less of a threat from the more powerful countries suddenly coming biligerent such as China and Russia. China is obtaining superpower status and I believe Russia will probably make a comeback in that category at some point.

The UK and the rest of NATO would be obligated to declare war in kind. No one likes losing soldiers, and my heart goes out to the families of everyone who has died in service of their duty, but this sort of thing is exactly why NATO, a mutual-protection treaty, was formed.

In truth, North Korea only poses a threat to two US protectorates in South Korea and Japan.

China is not and never will be a world superpower as it requires them to be capable of projecting their military might on a global scale and no one really wants to invite China to build and hold military bases in their country. They have an impressive economy, but it will always lag. Their rigid social structure stifles innovation. The true world superpower which will grow from Asia is India.

I think we should just let South Korea and Japan scrub them off the map. They threaten and threaten, but they are surrounded on all sides by High Tech super powers and are equipped with a bad economy and old guns. We should fight before they attack, in my earnest belief.

It is gonna be hard to try and take out North Korea, if you try to take them out, they could fire the Nukes, if you put them in a difficult position, they could fire the Nukes, dont take North Korea lightly, as long as they have Nukes, they are a major threat.

They have nukes, but they aren't very powerful and can't fit them to missiles. The best they could do would be to try smuggling one in on a ship and lighting it off. Not real likely.

It does concern me, slightly, but I don't think they'll do anything. They're just trying to get leverage to get us to, you know, like, give them money for breaking agreements. What have they done in the past 50 years aside from hole up and develop technology slower than we have?

I still can't figure out if Kim is just a giant attention whore or if he's actually stupid/insane enough to believe his nation can stand up to the United States.

I hope it's the former, because if not, he might just be insane enough to attack regardless of the consequences (and his people are probably brainwashed enough to believe in him).

Has anyone asked the obvious question - Why aren't Korea ALLOWED Nukes? we have em, america has em and so on and so forth, if every one but the UK for instance didn't have Nukes would it be fair to say that we don't "deserve" them, we've bullied them for too long, let them at least stand equal - see Swords v Guns topic?

What Qualifies us to have WMD's and not them, are we more responsible? i think history would beg to differ.
