Final Fantasy

Release Final Fantasy VII (or VI) with the graphics of the latest FF game.

Because damn, the latest games are anything but FF. At least the Tales series remains true to its roots.

I know Megaman is kinda already dead, but they should really sell the rights to nintendo. At least nintendo aren't self destructive assholes like capcom.

Plus it'll give Nintendo some new material to work with. I'd love to see Nintendo work with a different style of platformer since they've been sticking to familiar ground for a while now.

Or better yet, let a studio like Retro or WayForward handle Megaman. Donkey Kong Country Returns and Ducktales Remastered are great examples from both companies showing they understand what made the original games great whilst still adding their own spin on the games.

Banjo-Kazooie.

Rare seem to have no interest to revitalize the series seeing as how they're being pressured by Microsoft to create only crappy Kinect games. Sell the rights back to Nintendo, let Retro Studios handle a new game. They did wonderfully with Donkey Kong Country, and I feel they can work similar magic creating a next-gen 3D platformer; the likes of which haven't been seen in a good, long while.

While they're at it, Rare should sell the rights of the Conker games as well. That way they can focus all their assets toward creating their Microsoft-funded Kinect games that nobody wants.

I'm sure there are a good amount of fans that would love to see a new Conker game, too.

A Retro made Megaman would be amazing. They've worked well with both 2D and 3D games, I'd bet they could work their magic to make a great new Megaman entry.

I agree that Final Fantasy needs some serious help, though I think XV could bring the series back from the abyss they dug itself into. I would love to see VII remade, it would sell like hot cakes, especially if it somehow smells like hotcakes, make it happen SquareEnix!

F-Zero:
GX HD with online multiplayer. Safe while getting a way to gauge interest in the series.

Star Fox:
Let Platinum make the game they've been wanting to work on for the series.

F-zero addendum. Please bring back the F-zero X soundtrack. The new big blue theme is so... generic.

Thrillville. Release another god damn thrillville. Please?

Red Faction. Bring back the open world and concentrate entirely on destroying huge buildings. It'll be like rampage but with better physics.

Heroes of Might and Magic

Release a game with more factions, not fewer, and fill out some of the empty areas (resource management), don't dumb them down.

Agreed, but I'd like the see IX over VII.

I'm sorry Mister Phelps, I refuse to accept this mission. Dying game series often deserve to die as they are no longer topical to the current gaming market. And the the only way I see to save them is to update and change them into something unrecognizable from their origins, to be topical with the current gaming market. Which most often horribly perverts and compromises them from their origins.

So to quote Captain Kirk, I say "LET THEM DIE!", as I feel its much less of a disservice to all involved, than to mutate them into something they aren't, to meet today's gaming standards.

Sadly, Square Enix has already said that they wouldn't be able to do that, because of the vast amounts of time and resources it would require to create FF7's world with their best graphics. Unfortunately, since SE doesn't seem too keen on the idea of dialing back their graphical quality, that statement also implies that they won't be giving us a game world with the same size and scope of FF7 for quite some time, if ever.

I don't have a franchise of my own to add, but I agree with the OP's. The series has lost a lot without the depth of world exploration and abundance of side activities that were present in their past games (for the record, I've yet to play 13-2, so for all I know, I could be completely wrong).

I agree and disagree. Why not come up with something new rather than mutate an old franchise.
However there are some games that could do with just an update.

My choice would be Burnout. The way to save it? Bring back Crash Junctions. We never got to see what this generation's machines could do with crash junctions: more cars, bigger pileups and explosions. If it was Blues Bros themed, I wouldn't play anything else for years.

Do "dead" games count? I would like to see the Monster Rancher series come back. I had alot of fun with those games. Plus using all the different CDs for monsters helped me find alot of good music lol.

Sonic.

Make an open-world Sonic game like Burnout: Paradise. Racing, stunts, collectibles. Give Sonic different shoes for different abilities. Avoid taking control away by using too many bumpers. No cheap deaths. Throw in some eye-catching stuff -- my idea is a road leading straight up into space and back again, with stars becoming visible as you go up, Sonic trailing reentry flames as you go back down. Multiplayer. Use the "beat your friends' scores" system Paradise did.

I realize that is your opinion...but you are wrong. At least you didn't say VIII though.

To the OP, I say let's get some new creative games out there, not retreads of past glory. Nostalgia often makes people think something was better than it was, and if it's a dying series, there is typically a reason for it.

Onimusha. Make an HD collection of the first three games. See how that sells/is received. Assuming the sales are good and people are really happy with the collection (which they should be), then make a new game with a new protagonist and story, but keeping the roots of the originals.

Hell, if they just released a VI remake a la Final Fantasy IV Complete, I couldn't throw my money at them fast enough.

OT:[Insert Capcom Franchise Here]: Damn it Capcom, why don't you treat [Random Franchise] with the respect it deserves and release an actual game, not some gimmicky crap.

Also Spider-Man. There's really no need to rip off the Arkham games. You got it right with Spider-Man 2. Why the hell did you move away from that?

Perfect Dark.

Step One: Have Greg Rucka prominently involved in the writing. The tie-in novels Initial Vector and Second Front were phenomenal (the comics were very nice looking and had sturdy stories as well, but as far as I'm aware, Rucka didn't write those), and the games are in sore need of some good story.

Step Two: Have a deeper story, and more fleshed out characters.

Step Three: Have Joanna be more like her Zero incarnation. I know I'm going to get quite a bit of shit for this, but hear me out first. Her character model was unique (plus, she was always intended to be a redhead), and her character that was developed there was a lot more interesting than her original incarnation (where she was pretty much just a Bond clone).

Step Four: Try to mesh gameplay elements from Zero and the original. Keep the levels a bit more linear (like Zero), include some spy elements (like the original), make the multiplayer like the original's, have a weapon restriction system similar to Zero's, etc.

Step Five: Add in some modern FPS features, such as grenades being assigned to a button rather than counting it as its own weapon, sprinting, and the like.

I really love this series, but I'm so sad to see it being left behind.
