I hate MMO's, but I love City of Heroes. The amount of character creation materials is truely staggering, and the feeling of being a superhero is a awesome one.

Ring of Red on PS2 - Turn based combat featuring Androginous manga clones and mechs - I should loathe it, but its badass- the russian mechs look like russian mechs, as do the american and german, which is impressive considering they dont exist. The whole infantry support as perks business worked brilliantly, the different mech classes parralelled real world armour well - light tanks, main battle tanks, artillery etc, and seeing how long you dare wait to fire is the closest to realistic armour warfare I've seen. The explanation for the existence of mechs wasnt too bad. Apparently theres a storyline in there, but the meandering exposition that passed for narrative prevented my brain from paying attention.

On recent news, I can't stand most tower defense games but I LOVE Plants Vs. Zombies. Though I have mentioned that I only barely consider it tower defense. I almost want to say it's TD Lite, except that it does things very differently from any TD game I've played.

Mostly there isn't a genre without a few games I DON'T like in it. I guess racing sims (things like Gran Turismo or Nascar '0x) as long as you don't include things like Dirt or other offroady stuff.

Tangent: If you like offroad racing, try Monster Truck Madness. It's amazingly fun, and MTM2 even stands up to today I would say. (though in some ways it is the inferior)

I absolutely loved FFIX and Valkyrie Profile to death. I absolutely HATE every single other FF game in existence, and most JRPGs in general.

Fire Emblem, I hate JRPG's and most turn based games (not Civ games), I do love strategy games, which is why I originally tried Fire Emblem, I I found it my all time favorite game for GBA. I love micromanaging my units and having each unit be a finite resource, that once expended cannot be reclaimed. This is why I love Fire Emblem, every move you take can have vast implications, if you take a wrong move, or forget to check the range of that archer over in the corner, your Pegasus Knight could be kaputt. I need to find a working GBA just to play that again.

...Probably the (us)football genre. Can never really get into like some people.

But I love Tecmo Super Bowl. Simple, yet suprisingly addictive.

Left 4 Dead.

I am not a fan of survival/horror at all. I passed up Bioshock because the demo creeped me out.

I played the L4D demo one night, though, and I was instantly hooked. The team play makes that game. I absolutely love it. There is nothing like it that matches the teamwork and camaraderie you get playing it.

Then there's the versus mode, where you switch up and play as the infected, which is just so different than any other first-person game. What other game can you rope someone in with your tongue at 30 yards?

Kingdom Hearts series.
Like Yahtzee, I dislike the girly characters and rediculous storylines of this genre.
Most notably, I hate the Final Fantasy series for many reasons.
But Kingdom Hearts surprised me and now both Kingdom Hearts I & II are among my favorite games of all time.

I hate racing games but the whole Mario Kart series was fun, despite the cheating cpu.

I normally hate those silly little mini-game games but XX:XY was pretty awesome.

Oh, I hate fighting games with a PASSION. I love the characters and everything, but I can not play a Street Fighter game to save my life. All those confusing button movements just to whip out a special attack. It drives me insane just trying to remember one of them. Much less a friggin list of moves.

So I'm what they prefer to call...a button masher.

Amazingly enough though. I found my calling, when I picked up Super Smash Brothers.

It was fun, the characters were familiar and the BEST PART!

No super long lines of fighting moves!

SQUEE!

It's simple enough even a monkey with down syndrome could play it!

AWSOME!
