I don't really like racing games much as they just feel sorta lame, but give me Wipeout and I am happy. Best racing games ever.

I was going to say racing, until I thought of Forza, Mario Kart, and Burnout.

So, I guess Blitz on the PS1. It was the only sports game I've liked.

I'm not a fan of street racing at all, but I loved Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix. The customization is addictive, the racing is arcade perfect, the visuals are fairly immersive and the music is at least selectable. Sure, most of it is STILL generic and bland rap or techno, but there's a little Queens of the Stone Age in there, too.

This week's discussion topic is: Name a game you've loved despite it belonging to a genre you hate. For instance, did you love Cho Aniki even though you generally don't like shooters?
Could someone tell me what Cho Aniki is?

As for me, skateboarding games are the only sport games I've ever really liked, and the main one I've played was Tony Hawk's Underground. I like the old Tony Hawk games because they weren't getting concerned with realism yet, so you could do insane tricks and combos. Realistic ones can be fun too, because I felt a feeling of accomplishment for doing simple tricks.

NBA street volume 2. That game had me so hooked, everything was perfect, perfect gameplay, graphics, cool music, my 5'9" self dunking from half court sweetness embodied. Normally I hate sport games. I guess I feel that if I can do it in real life then there's no reason why I need to waste my time doing it in a video game. That would explain why I stick with games where I can either A) get killed or B) get arrested for doing whatever the character is doing at the time in real life. Also I tried volume 3 but maybe the fact that the graphics were more realistic made me lose interest.

Cho Aniki is a shoot-em-up(or shmup) focused on two body building brothers.

It's very... er, suggestive.

I don't exactly hate genres, I only hate the game. I figure every game genre is worth a try, quite a few games I love that I'd never have found without experimenting

I can't say I've ever really hated a particular genre of games. I can say that I've despised gaming in the current time period, though, and the only gems I've found are Earth Defense Force 2017, Unreal 3, and Stormrise.

I've never really enjoyed shooters of any kind. I've played Halo, some Timesplitters games, a Medal of Honor game or two, etc. with a friend on either co-op or versus, but never really got into them; what fun I had was derived from the fact that I was playing them with a friend.

Recently, however, he made me try Gears of War. I've never enjoyed shooting aliens so much.

Don't exactly hate them, but i'm not keen on music/rhythm action games. Love Patapon though. It just got to me.

Oh geez, I have so many exceptions. However, the main one that comes to mind is the Battlefield series. I usually hate online shooters, but that series gave me so many awesome memories. I found a server that requires squad play, and it added such a fascinating strategic dynamic. I actually got pretty darn good at shooters thanks to the games, too.

I am not a big racing game fan at all. But, after buying Gran Turismo 3 in 2003 I briefly became a car fan to the point that I was thoroughly convinced I needed a real RX7 with twin turbos in order for my life to be complete. I also loved the extensive information it gave on car manufacturers and models.
That's my life story, just with the first Gran Turismo instead.

I can't stand most sports games, but ESPN 2K5 still holds a special place in my heart as the little Madden competition that could... until EA bought the exclusive license. When I heard about that crap, all I could say was, "Daaaaaaaamn...." That was my favorite Football game ever, and EA had to end it all. Worst of all, the copy of the game I used to own got scratched. I held a small funeral for it before I tossed it. I loved it that much.

I very much dislike fighting games. But there was one old school fighter for the SNES which I couldnt put down.

It was called "Brutal: Paws of Fury" where anthropomorphic animals beat the crap out of eachother with various martial arts styles. Classic.
