typically I hate sports and sports games, but there was an Ice Hockey game for the original Xbox that I LOVED playing.

Final Fantasy X

-the challenging boss battles and epic story was the two main reasons why i enjoyed it.

Im bored of third-person games, whatever the genre. But I love Mario Galaxy!

Good games always pull through, whatever the genre, I guess

Not that into sports games myself, but for whatever reason I really really dug the latest FIFA. I really can't even explain it: before this, sports games have really just bored me to tears.

Yes, even California Games on the C64 did that to me.

I have a couple of examples. Most notably, I loved Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy IX despite a burning hatred of JRPGs in general. But I am also no fan of console action games, yet I love Grand Theft Auto on the PS2. It's a love-hate relationship at times (seriously, console controllers are awful when compared against keyboard-mouse, which is why I'm a PC gamer more or less exclusively), but GTA is just so damn much fun that I'm willing to overlook something I otherwise wouldn't have been able to forgive in the design.

I despise halfassed sandboxing games like what GTA became after 3; but Saints Row 2 just does it for me.

I can't stand sports games but if anybody remembers Blades of Steel, or WWF Wrestling then you know why I like those.

Stealth games are boring, but Beyond Good & Evil rocked.
Beyond Good and Evil was really a great stealth game. Too bad it wasn't too well received. Can't wait for the sequel. And SR2 just plain kicked ass.

I love simple action games like Platformers or FPS, but I can't stand most Racing games, due to the complexity of racing rules and variants.
But with a game like Burnout, I can use my skills in the former area instead of worrying about the complicated variants to high speed racing.
I almost never win a Burnout race because I was good at controlling my car and racing the fastest, I just wrecked the people ahead of me when I caught up, and I just kept a good defence so that they couldn't get ahead of me without behind slammed into a wall.
Its not all about car types and speed management anymore. The normal rules of defencive and offensive in a Racing game can have a very different meaning in a Burnout game, and they are new rules I can take advantage of.

I typically despise Survival Horror games, but Left 4 Dead is quite good, especially the versus mode. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a group of Survivors to pounce on.

Wow, some people are just taking the words right out of my mouth.

Hate racing, but Mario Kart and Burnout break those rules for me.

Kinda hate Fighting games, but Smash bros is always fun.

HATE HATE sports games, and well, I can't think of any sports games I actually play. Maybe Mario Strikers, as that didn't totally offend me.

I hate turn-based strategy games. Yet: I love the Total War series, especially Medevial (the original). And not for the RT battles either..
Go figure.

I also hate MMORPG's, yet after 2 years absence, I still yearn for WoW.

Me: "Hi, my name is Goblin, Im a MMORPG-gamer"
All: "Hi Goblin!"
Me: "I used to be a level 50 Undead DEstruction Warlock. But I don't play anymore"
All: "Thank you for sharing" Applause follows.
