Probably already named, but Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and At World's End. Also, Settlers 6 > Settlers 5, 4 and 3 (though not 2 or 1). And perhaps you can also say that Warcraft 3 > Warcraft 2 > Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, though all three were masterpieces for their time and can't really be compared properly.

Dbz tenkaichi 2 shit all over tenkaichi 1. i tried to like 1 but it was shitty. 2 was so much better. It had a cool overhead map while you travel to your fight.

This can be anything from a movie, to a book, to a game, but I just haven't found any sequels that were better than their originals.

And what I mean by a true sequel is that it continues a story, NOT like the Call Of Duty series where Call Of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 3 were both completely diferent.
Zone of the Enders 2, Dino Crisis 2, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Kingdom Heart II, Diablo II, Resistance 2, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, Half-life 2. I could go on and on...

Hellbound: Hellraiser 2

I would also like to add Hellraiser: Bloodlines was also FAR SUPERIOR to the original. It taught us that you can't outrun hell even in the depths of space. (also not to boss around hell temptresses)

Half-Life 2
This. I think Dawn of War: Dark Crusade topped Winter Assault, but I don't know if that's a direct sequel or not.

Movie: The Dark Knight > Batman Begins
I think I'm the only person who didn't like The Dark Knight.
Nope, i thought the Dark Knight was horrible. Loved Batman Begins though

Harry Potter 6 > Harry Potter 5; also All HP books are better than the first

Dark Cloud 2 > Dark Cloud

Clash of Kings is better than the first 2 books in the Song o Fire and Ice series

Garden of the Stone is a sequel novel, but holds up on its own and tops the first (it follows the first main character's daughter... Very entertaining to read imo)

In terms of book series let's just list LOTR, Sookie Stackhouse books, several of the Sword of Truth books, OH! And most definently the second Wheel of Time book versus the first. ^.^

Beautiful Katamari > Katamari Damacy

Civilization games keep getting better n better (but I still play 2 every once in a while).

Ummm etc etc etc?

Aliens > Alien
That's exactly what I thought when I saw the title of this thread. And the ones that followed were just terrible.
The ones that followed also gave no credit to Hans Reudi Giger, the bastards...
As far as I know, he was only involved w/ Alien and Alien 3.
